    Shelby M. Balik is an associate professor of history at Metropolitan State University of Denver, specializing in early American history and American religious history. She holds degrees from Brown University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin. She has published in the Journal of Social History, the New England Quarterly, and the Journal of Church and State, among others. She is the author of Rally the Scattered Believers: Northern New England’s Religious Geography (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 2014) and is currently researching a book on household religious practice in eighteenth-century North America.
