    Jackass Forever and Ever Amen

This week on Pop Culture Boner we’re looking at Jackass… again. Look, we weren’t lying when we said that we are almost always thinking about Jackass. Luckily, they’ve released a new film - we’re looking ageing, pain and love as expressed through rickety middle-aged bodies. Jackass forever and ever, amen.

    The "Financial Advisor Bassist" Episode

    The "Financial Advisor Bassist" Episode

Tom is not only one of the nicest people I have had the chance to tour with but he is a bourbon drinking, bass playing, father who also understands how to help people with their finances as a financial advisor. We dive into where Tom is from, where he got his start playing music, and some of his first jobs before we get into the nitty gritty of money and how he can be of service to you. We also talk about some of the embarrassments some people face before heading to a financial advisor but how none of that matters. His only goal is to help make you money. Tom and I talk about ways to pay attention to your finances like the way you would play an instrument. It takes time and practice to make it great!

Come enjoy this fun ride through his college years all the way to playing one of the world's most iconic music and sports venues in the world, Madison Square Garden. Somewhere in the middle Tom shares his first memory of PK and a Beer Bong. And if you don't know about CKY we suggest you listen to the end as we go in depth into who they turned into and how they took over the MTV airwaves.

'Jackass: The Movie' with 'Dick Johnson Is Dead' Director Kirsten Johnson

'Jackass: The Movie' with 'Dick Johnson Is Dead' Director Kirsten Johnson

This week’s episode is truly one of our most powerful…and, of course, the film being discussed is Jackass: The Movie. April is joined by cinematographer and director Kirsten Johnson, recording from her closet in New York City. Kirsten has so many poignant and beautiful observations about pain, the body, life, and death. And she somehow connects it all back to Jackass and her latest film Dick Johnson Is Dead. In her latest film, Kirsten explores mortality and the impending death of her ailing father by staging him in a series of comical fake death scenes. Throughout the course of the episode, discussing this film allows April to open up about the recent passing of her own grandfather who raised her. This episode is funny, touching, heartening, life-affirming, and incredibly gripping. Share it with a loved one.

    Welcome to Jackass!

    Welcome to Jackass!

If you believed the conservative media hype, 2000’s MTV phenomenon Jackass was a symbol of the moral bankruptcy of America and the easy corruptibility of youth. In the season finale of Pop Culture Boner, we’re digging deep in the vault to examine our feelings about  Jackass. Why was it so popular? Was it about watching dudes get hit in the nuts or was it something deeper? Perhaps most importantly, is it just cos Johnny Knoxville is kind of hot?
