Mortal Kombat (2021) Movie Review *Spoilers* (First Time Learning About Mortal Kombat, Bringing Up The Original 1995 Movie, Having An Asian Male As The Leading Actor and More) [Barbershop Talk]
Today's Barber Shop Talk podcast reviews the film "Mortal Kombat," directed by Simon McQuoid, starring Lewis Tan, Joe Taslim, Ludi Lin, Hiroyuki Sanada, and more. Mortal Kombat is a 2021 American martial arts fantasy film based on the video game franchise of the same name and a reboot of the Mortal Kombat film series.
The film boasts a predominantly Asian cast that includes an Asian male lead, making this the perfect movie to review for the podcast. We go over the good, the bad and give a rating out of 10 at the end.
In this episode, we discuss:
- Our first time hearing about Mortal Kombat was through the game
- Leo being reluctant to see the movie because he's not fond of violence.
- Mike brings up the 1995 "Mortal Kombat" movie version
- The pros/cons about the movie
- 1995 Liu Kang v.s 2021 Liu Kang
- Questioning why they decided to create an entirely new character for the movie
- Our overall rating for the movie
