    Barbershops and Leeches

    Barbershops and Leeches

What do barbers, leeches, and hospitals have in common? Why do barbershop poles have red and white stripes and sometimes blue? In this episode Tristan, Justin, and Adam talk about the origin of barber poles, the meaning behind them, and the history of barbershops and bloodletting. It's time we get to the bottom of what that barber shop spinning thing is. Also, Adam learns the hard truth that he probably drank his hair while drinking a beer during his last haircut.

For the 105th episode of the series and 3rd Episode of Season 7, Vincent A. Lanci brings on the incredibly inspiring, Wil Shelton.

This week's guest founded Wil Power Integrated Marketing, or "WPIM", in 1996, as a full-service consumer engagement and experiential marketing company specializing in Urban Beauty Salon/Barber Shop Marketing.

He was a licensed hairstylist with a 25- year background in the beauty business while also owning a hair salon for 10 years. He found that he could easily bring the worlds of entertainment and beauty together, harnessing the power of word of mouth in the African American market.

Now, WPIM is positioned in more than 40 urban markets nationwide with well-established business relationships in over 75,000 African American, Hispanic and general market beauty salon/barber shops.

He also has a powerful story of perseverance as the agency that was nearly lost to Covid-19. The global brands he had been working with which were some of the first small businesses to close when the pandemic hit. This caused his business to reach a screeching to a halt. This caused him to pivot and give back to his communities.

Get ready to level up your business and mindset with Mr. Wil Shelton.
