Burning the Book - The Book of Jeremiah, 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles

Burning the Book - The Book of Jeremiah, 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles

Join Julia Jeffress Sadler as she takes us on an incredible adventure in Episode 127. Twenty-three years into Jeremiah's prophetic mission, God instructs him to warn the people in the Temple of impending destruction if they don't repent. Facing hostility and threats of death, Jeremiah is defended by city officials but is banned from the Temple. God then directs Jeremiah to write a book containing all His messages, which his scribe Baruch reads in the Temple. The book reaches King Jehoiakim, who callously burns it page by page, ignoring its warnings. Despite the king's orders to arrest them, God protects Jeremiah and Baruch. God commands Jeremiah to write another book, reinforcing His judgement and adding that Babylon will conquer Judah for 70 years. Baruch, fearful for his life, is reassured by God's promise of protection.
