Matthias Giraud 'Super Frenchie' on Ski BASE Jumping and Big Mountain Skiing the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc

Matthias Giraud aka Super Frenchie is a big mountain skier and BASE Jumper. Matthias grew up skiing in St Gervais-les-Bains, France. He was inspired by the mountain legends of Chamonix who set the bar for mountain sports and following their passion. Matthias went from ski racing to freestyle skiing and moved to the US with the aim of becoming a pro skier. He got his skydiving license and started base jumping. He wanted to Ski BASE Jump since he was 9 years old and was lucky enough to meet Shane McConkey who steered him in that direction. Adding a parachute on your back was the perfect solution to turning big mountain skiing into double XL mountain skiing.

Matthias has gone on to ski BASE Jump some of the world's first descents. Including Mt Hood in Oregon, the Matterhorn in Switzerland and Mont Blanc the highest mountain in the Alps.

    "Defining Extreme" with Travis Pastrana

    "Defining Extreme" with Travis Pastrana

This week’s episode of the Bellas Podcast is EXTREME!

Nikki & Brie take the podcast into overtime with their recap of a huge weekend in LA that involved a lot of parties, a lot of tequila, a lot of famous friends, and a football game. Then Bellas bring on Travis Pastrana, who sits at the AGT: Extreme judge’s table with Nikki.

Nikki & Brie jetted down to Los Angeles for a monumental Sister Super Bowl Weekend that included Megan Thee Stallion, a number of outfit changes, day drinking, camera time, questionable choices at the bar, and a lot of camera time.

The Bellas were also in attendance at Super Bowl LVI and share their experiences seeing Billie Jean King and The Rock, the mind-blowing halftime show, and an incident involving one of the Bellas that involved a woman hitting the ground…hard.

Then Travis Pastrana connects with Nikki and Brie to get us ready for AGT: Extreme! A few weeks ago, Travis had a base jumping stunt go wrong, and he gives an update on how he’s doing now and if he’d ever try it again. Travis is a legend in the world of Action Sports and talks about what made his run of successful X-Games appearances so much fun, taking extreme sports into the mainstream, and why he started Nitro Circus, his life as a cheer dad, if he’d encourage his daughters to live life as dangerously as he has, and how much fun he had working with Nikki.

Nikki & Brie play a new Bellas Podcast game, “Record Collector,” with Travis, who holds 11 X-Games Gold Medals and holds 11 entries in the Guinness Book of World Records. Travis also has an incredible response for this week’s Inspiration & Affirmation that applies to his life as a parent and an extreme athlete. Travis also has a new sponsor, Black Rifle Coffee, and he explains why he’s excited for that partnership and what they can accomplish together.

How to handle fear and BASE jump off a cliff: Glenn Singleman Pt. 1 (Rebroadcast)

How to handle fear and BASE jump off a cliff: Glenn Singleman Pt. 1 (Rebroadcast)
Dr. Glenn Singleman has achieved so many things in his life that one might ask whether his day has more than 24 hours. He is an emergency doctor, a mountaineer, a skydiver, a record-breaking high-altitude BASE jumper and wingsuit pilot, a motivational speaker, a husband, a father and submarine medical doctor who joined both world-famous director James Cameron and businessman and explorer Victor Vescovo on their journeys to the bottom of the ocean.

He also goes trail running every morning, is a passionate vegan and has obtained several university degrees covering everything from medicine to film making.

But it all started with Glenn overcoming his fears. And he says that everyone can do the same, treating fear as a good friend rather than letting it take over and stop us from doing things we think are otherwise impossible.
