Good evening everyone! I’m your host Gail Nobles bringing to you a public domain classic about Jackie Robinson’s story of becoming a baseball player at the MLB. Major League Baseball. But first, I want to tell you a little bit about Jackie. He was more than a baseball player. In Junior High School, Robinson played several sports. He played football, basketball, track, and basketball.

Jackie was also a great actor. The Jackie Robinson story is starring Jackie himself, and Ruby Dee played as his wife Rae Robinson. The film is directed by Alfred E. Green. It is a 1950 film. The film focuses on Robinson’s struggle with the abuse of bigots as he becomes the first African American Major League Baseball player of the modern era. So let’s begin now. The Jackie Robinson story.

42 - In Memoriam Chadwick Boseman

42 - In Memoriam Chadwick Boseman

With the recent sudden and shocking passing of Chadwick Boseman, it seems only right to honor his powerful work toward equality and the portrayal of positive, powerful black role models & icons. He left a strong legacy in an incredibly short career, and perhaps no film anchors that legacy better than the story of Jackie Robinson, 42. We discuss the film in light of recent national events, it's craft as a biopic of rare quality, it's heart, humor, and so much more!

The Bettor’s Box MLB Betting Podcast April 16, 2020
On the Thursday April 16 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke shared his thoughts and some reviews on baseball movies. There are a few hotter takes and some stronger recommendations, but Adam ran through more than 15 baseball movies with some notes and nuggets about each one and the things he likes and dislikes about those flicks.

Major League, Major League II, The Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, Angels in the Outfield, Moneyball, 42, The Natural, Eight Men Out, A League of Their Own, Field of Dreams, For the Love of the Game, The Rookie, and more were all discussed and analyzed to give listeners something to watch during this brutal period of quarantine.

Apologies that the audio ran out of steam towards the tail end.
