Warning: this episode is going to truly change the way you look at your life and the way you look at your past. In this episode, I share with you my favorite (and most effective) way to detach from your past trauma to allow a new version of yourself to bloom and rise. I talk about how you can automatically reprogram your mind to believe in the good happening, by recreating your childhood and your milestone events, so that your subconscious mind has no attachment to limiting beliefs that might've emerged from past trauma.

In Season 4, episode 51, co-hosts Angela DiMarco and Dana Sardano close the Season of Gratitude with special guest Reuben Langdon, host of Interview with E.D. (Extra Dimensionals), which appears on the Gaia network.

Angela and Dana recognize Reuben's beautiful balance of spirituality and practicality evidenced by his prolific career as an award-winning stuntman and video game vocalist as well as his work doing motion capturing for video games. Reuben also had a successful career in Hollywood, working on films like Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean before having a UFO sighting in 2007, which opened his awareness to such things and shifted his trajectory to a more esoteric direction.

Angela, Dana, and Reuben discuss the importance of maintaining the balance between the practical and the woo, the state of the world today, our part in improving its conditions, and, of course, aliens! What kind of conversation would it be without visiting with our favorite ETs?

First topic that I want to discuss is, Emmanuel Macron, the President of French Republic, claims to be a champion of free speech, in an interview to Al Jazeera in October 2020, he had said “I will always defend in my country the freedom to speak, to write, to think, to draw”. There is no doubt that some truly condemnable and atrocious incidents took place in France in the name of religion and one might even be sympathetic to Macron’s rallying against elements of French society that may have sought to undermine the very noble principle of free speech, except, Macron’s hypocrisy seems to know no bounds when it comes to not practising what he preaches.

When talking about Macron, George Orwell’s 1984 and the phrase “Doublethink” comes to mind, in the novel this phrase meant the ability to hold two completely contradictory beliefs at the same time and to believe that they were both true. In Macron’s case, he somehow seems to believe that he could be a champion of Free Speech whilst actively undermining the very same principle that he publicly professes to hold so dear.

The other topic that I discuss is Syrian Civil War, the conflict in Syria started over 10 years ago resulting in millions of people being displaced and countless lives being lost. Most people across the globe have a very polarised view of the Syrian conflict, there are some who believe Bashar Al Assad is a monster and should be removed at any cost and then there are those who believe Syrian Civil War was and is Syria’s internal matter and no external power should interfere in a sovereign country’s internal matters. This polarisation gets even steep when it comes to the Muslim World, because most Muslims don’t just see this as a conflict between a ruler and his subjects, to some Muslims it becomes a conflict between a Shiite dictator and an oppressed Sunni population and to other Muslims this becomes a clash between Saudi Inspired Wahhabi ideology and a Head of State who is trying to protect his diverse population from anarchy. 

Join me and Dr. Sousan Abadian, PhD, as we talk about “cracking ourselves open to allow the light to enter,” and Sousan’s upcoming book, Free Me To Love. I first met Sousan at Harvard Kennedy School 15 years ago and I was immediately captivated by her spirit, her wisdom, and her visionary work to help communities recover from trauma in order to move forward. Over the years, I’ve come to learn so much more of Sousan’s personal story of overcoming trauma, and it is profoundly powerful, moving, and inspiring. I know it will help so many people. 

Sousan has an amazing background—she is an Iranian-born scholar who dedicates herself to the work of enhancing human capabilities and well-being. She has an independent practice teaching, speaking, and consulting internationally on leadership, collective trauma, and personal, social, and cultural change.  She earned a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University, an M.P.A. in International Development from Harvard’s Kennedy School, and an M.A. in the Anthropology of Social Change and Development, also from Harvard University. 

 In Free Me To Love, Sousan shares her story of “the day her life fell apart” and how that shockwave shattered so many parts of her life, despite her outward success—as she shares, “This is my story of how woundedness kept knocking and I ignored it, until its rap and insistence grew and cracked me open to allow the light to enter.”

In this episode, we begin by talking about our self beliefs and perceptions—overcoming the tangled childhood stories we still tell ourselves; then we talk about how trauma and wounds affect the roles we play in our adult lives—as wives, mothers, and professionals; and we end by talking about choosing and co-creating a positive and thriving future—moving through, within, and “beyond” childhood trauma.
