    Psycho II (1983)

    Psycho II (1983)

Welcome to the Bates Motel. We have fresh linens on the beds, if you're hungry we can make you a sandwich and if we find you snooping around we will stab you in the face. This sequel to the famous Alfred Hitchcock's 1960s "Psycho" had me curious in how it could continue after such a a well rounded movie and if I'm being honest my expectations weren't high but this film did not disappoint. So park the car, pick a room and get ready to have your mind showers with some awkward dialogue, great kills and some serious mystery.

PSYCHO (1960) Episode 73: Whole Squad Pod Bonus Pt. 1 of our 1960-isode: Hot Creeper!

    WoHos!

We got the whole squad together to talk about three heavy hitters from 1960: PSYCHO, LES YEUX SAN VISAGE / EYES WITHOUT A FACE, and PEEPING TOM. We talked A LOT, so this Bonus will be in two pieces.

This is Part One of two, wherein Quinn breaks down Hitchcock's classic proto-slasher, PSYCHO. Stay tuned for Part Two coming out real soon.

This movie has everything: Mommy issues, primitive psychoanalysis, paternalism, transphobia, and ableism at their best, but they tried (?)

We also have Letterboxd reviews and trivia!

We're all super thirsty for Anthony Perkins and grossed out by Hitchcock's coprophilia, but we are here for the glory that is Patricia Hitchcock!!

    Season Three - Episode Two

Welcome one and all to another lovely service from the windswept church on the peak.

Our church administrator, Rupert Donk, opens the service by sharing about an exciting musical guest who will join us tonight. Read on for more on that! Then after some important notices (including an announcement about our Single Pringle Ready To Mingle Singles Pizza Night - Down at Old Jenkins' Cemetery) we move on to our special guest.

'Who is it', you cry? 'Well, we shall tell you.

For our guest tonight is none other than Norman Bates, the manager of The Bates Motel (a local establishment). And what's more, he brings along his lovely mother in her wheelchair, who celebrates a very special birthday during the service.

After that we have a Bible reading from a super horror artist, Daniel Tuck, whose printed artworks (based on horror characters) are available here.

Next, Peter Laws shares a talk on the how to stay positive, then he guides us through a Bates Motel themed prayer and meditation. Nice time.

When that is complete, it's over to our fabulous MUSICAL GUEST. Joel The Custodian works in 'the rap medium' and brings us a most pleasing song about graveyards and climbing into coffins. If you'd like more of Joel's songs then simply point that clicker here...for this is his Spotify Playlist.

Finally, Peter bids us all adieu, but then something tricky comes up with Norman Bates. Ouch.

Thanks for coming to Creepy Cove...we love having you. You can stay regularly connected with our Private, members only show...The Peter Laws Podcast. Which comes out every week for members of our Patreon.

Conjuring Up Some Scares (Katie Made Me Do It) Part 2

Conjuring Up Some Scares (Katie Made Me Do It) Part 2

If you love the scares that Nick Nack Goes to the Movies continues to bring into your headphones or speakers, here is the conclusion of our Conjuring collection with Katie.  In the second longest episode we've ever done, dive into the second half of these movies including the worst in the franchise, sort of, one of my surprise favorite doll movies, as well as 2 of the 3 Conjuring films including The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It available in theaters and on HBO Max until the 4th of July!  And not only do we have the highs and lows of this franchise, but Katie and I butt heads on the most polarizing fandom of one of these movies.  The fun and scares don't stop this episode, thankfully nothing ever showed up in my dimly lit hallway while recording this. And we really are conjuring up some horror when we dive into our 8 film franchise lists.  So buckle up and turn on all the lights in your abode for one more week until we give you a vacation from the scares as summer vacation kicks in.  What was your favorite of The Conjuring Franchise and why was it not The Curse of La Llorona?  Hit me up on social at either @NickNackMovies or @NickNack_IC on either Tik Tok, Instagram, or Twitter!

Conjuring Up Some Scares (Katie Made Me Do It) Part 1

Conjuring Up Some Scares (Katie Made Me Do It) Part 1

This podcast, Nick Nack Goes to the Movies, we finally went to the movies, and now we had our first guest in ages.  Katie joined the pod and brought along with her one of the scariest franchise I dared to watch.  With the latest and, well maybe not greatest, but newest to be sure, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It available in theaters and on HBO Max.  You could say, Katie made me do this.  We talked over three hours about this 8 film franchise, and we simply had to break this super sized content review up into a two-parter.  With the chronological watch, we ended up tackling some of the stranger spinoffs, but thankfully this episode does tackle the first and most important first film that kicked off the franchise coming out all the way back in 2013 with some amazing actors in Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.  So listen to Katie and I talk about all our brand new traumas of scary nuns and dolls, and a bit of mixed in heartwarming family storytelling.  What was your favorite Conjuring movie?  Let me know on social at either @NickNackMovies or @NickNack_IC on either Tik Tok, Instagram, or Twitter!

    Episode Five - Bates Motel

    Episode Five - Bates Motel

This week on Random Telly Vision we’re watching Bates Motel. That’s right, the TV show prequel to the classic film Psycho. Do you hear the screeching violins? Then you’re watching the wrong thing. This is the show about what happened before that infamous shower scene.

We hope you enjoy our confused conversation about Bates Motel, series 3, episode 4.

    18. Psycho (1960)

    18. Psycho (1960)

For episode 18, the hosts complete their Halloween Spooktacular and welcome again a familiar host as they review Alfred Hitchcock’s slasher classic, Psycho.

This 1960 psychological horror film, based on the 1959 novel of the same name, stars Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. The hosts pair the classic film with the Brandy Alexander cocktail. This cocktail is quintessential 1960s; additionally, with its dark red appearance, it looks like blood floating in a classic tapered coupe. Let’s cheer as we celebrate one of the most influential movies of all time!
