    In this episode, I deep dive into the latest sports supplement that has been trending in popularity - beetroot juice/beetroot extract. There has been a lot of hype about beetroot juice in recent times with many proposing it as the next great supplement in the sports performance space. 

    Athletes are always looking at the next thing to take their performance to the next level. That is why supplements are so popular as they are marketed as performance enhancers.

    However, many supplements are simply not as good as they seem OR they simply do not work and are B.S. Then there is a small group of supplements that truly help or have promise.

    That is why I wanted to chat about beet juice as it’s the latest supplement that has been touted as beneficial for the athlete. So is this true or untrue? Is beet juice underrated or overrated?

     The sports supplement market is big business, but the reality is that most of these supplements have little evidence for a benefit. It is not all negative news though as there is a small group of supplements that are backed by science and which can play a performance-enhancing role in some athletes. In this series on sports supplements, I will profile this group of supplements and for this podcast, the spotlight is on beetroot juice.
