Things in my life have been in chaos recently, but I trust in Jesus and know that He has my back and my life is going to be ok. In fact, it’s going to be incredible!

Who is God? Many people have formed beliefs, ideas, and thoughts about without ever considering what God actually said about Himself. You see, God has a name. And when He shared His name with the world, He told us all exactly what that name means and who He is, as well as who He isn't.

In this episode of the National Crawford Roundtable we look at why fewer Americans believe in God. A recent Gallup poll shows that Americans who believe in God have now dropped to just 81%.  In the 1960s it was 98%.  How are people defining God?  Why is Atheism on the rise?  Why do Atheists choose Atheism?  Why do young people seemingly reject God?  Why are the numbers of belief in God lowest among liberals and Democrats?  Why do people believe God can't hear prayers or intervene?  Why does God seem so distant and "not there" sometimes?  

In this week's "Your Weekly Dose of Higher Consciousness" I address the topic of your belief in God...where's it at? And if you do believe in God, what's your view of God?

Understanding your view of God will help you understand your own level of consciousness on this vast (and sometimes touchy) subject.

Your belief in God and view of God can be calibrated as to its level of consciousness and has been mapped out on Dr. David R. Hawkins's renowned Map of Consciousness.

#029 Imagine you and your family getting on a three-level windowless barge filled with animals on any given day of the week; nothing unusual happening. The door closes, and you find yourself riding out a forty-day torrential rainstorm. Once the storm ceases, you drift around for another one hundred and ten days before grounding-out on a mountain top. Each day you wait for the door to open. That day does not arrive for another two hundred and twenty days. And finally, once the door is opened, and everyone and everything gets off the barge, you look around and there is nothing anywhere. Everything you observed as normal before getting on the barge has been wiped out… Time for New Beginnings.

 In Episode #029 of Way of the Bible podcast, DrZ explores the narrative of Genesis 8 and 9 which include the long float on the water, disembarking, a sacrifice, a covenant, and New Beginnings for mankind. “Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth” (Genesis 9:1). 

This is the fifth of eight episodes of the mini-series entitled, Failure to Launch. In the narrative from Genesis 4 to 11, the case is made and the table set for the spiritual and literal split and conflict between the nations of the world and God’s chosen people, Israel. This split and conflict will not be end until the eternal state is manifest as described in Revelation 21 to 22.

#028 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19). In this episode, DrZ unveils in a discussion of the flood narrative of Genesis 6-7 three important points for believers. First, God will bring judgment against the wicked, their wickedness, and their wicked words against God using a means and measure appropriate for the situation. Second, God always announces what He is going to do to his prophets. And third, God will not destroy the righteous with the wicked.

 The first point is seen in Genesis 6:5-7 - The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the LORD said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”

 The second point is seen in Jude 14-15 - Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” And in Genesis 6:13 - So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

 The third point is seen in Genesis 7:1 - The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

 There is a coming judgment against the wicked which may be coming soon as Jesus’ return is  indicated by the signs of the times. As were the days of Noah, so the days are now…

#027 In this exploration of the first half of Genesis Chapter 6, DrZ expounds upon what Jesus noted would be the sign of his second coming - "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man" (Matt. 24:37). What we discover is that the days of Noah angels were having hanky-panky with the daughters of man and having hybrid offspring! These hybrids show up again in the promised land as the Israelites prepare to enter. And guess what, they're reported to be back again doing the same things as in the Days of Noah...

Hold on to your seats and cast away your tin hats and conspiracy theories. The Bible is revealing in Genesis 6 what we're experiencing today. Could it be the return of Jesus Christ is at hand? Listen and you may believe this to be the case.

#026 The Gospel of God is a pretty simple message communicated throughout the Bible. Basically it contains these elements: 1) I am God, there is no other; 2) I created everything seen and unseen; 3) I created mankind in my own image and likeness; 4) Mankind sinned/rebelled against me and is under condemnation and my wrath; 5) I will judge the rebellious (mankind and the heavenly creatures) and eternally subject them to my wrath; 6) I don’t want you to be condemned but repent, turn to me, obey, and live; 7) I’m making it simple for you by judging all sin and appeasing my wrath on a substitute, my own Son Jesus; 8) Simply believe me (God) and follow Jesus by faith.  

You’ll see in Genesis Chapter 5, God hid this message in the genealogy from Adam to Noah. If you’re like me, when you hear this for the first time you might utter – “You’ve got to be kidding?” It is that unbelievable. Enjoy the podcast. Grace and Peace… DrZ  

#025  This Way of the Bible podcast episode starts our fourth short series . The series is entitled Failure to Launch, and reflects what happens in the world when there are no rules except what the strong man makes up and enforces. Truth is non-existent and the fear of non-compliance with unknown or ever-changing rules manifest conflict and chaos. This all began and was recorded for us by Moses in Genesis chapters 4 to 8.

Episode #25 addresses Genesis Chapter 4 and details the entrance of Adam and Eve and their progeny (Cain, Abel, and Seth) after expulsion from the Garden of Eden. What Adam and Eve encountered in a world where Satan is the ruler of the power of the air and holds the power over death quickly takes their experience of Conscious life from Bliss to Chaos. Their firstborn child, Cain, kills his brother Abel over a sacrifice to God. We'll see, it only goes downhill into the sewer after this; but God preserves a remnant.

 No matter the circumstances in the world or your workplace, God always has a remnant hidden in plain sight who will carry the message of Jesus to the next generation. While the masses cower to the fear and threats propagated by a very small minority, followers of Jesus stand firm in their faith: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Simply Believe God and Follow Jesus - “I [Jesus] have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Grace and Peace… DrZ  

#024 Reconstituting the Ekklēsia in a Post Mars Hill World 

Following a recommendation of a close friend, I begin listening to the Christianity Today podcast, The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill; hosted by Mike Cosper. On the one hand it is an extremely well-produced and executed program regarding the cost/benefit analysis of a rocket ride that manifested mega-church size and celebrity fame of Seattle’s Mars Hill Church pastor Mark Driscoll. On the other hand, as a believer, it is very disheartening and at times disturbing to listen without thinking I’ve been led into the Roman Colosseum to watch Christians being mauled by wild lions, tigers, bears, and dogs. Images of St. Augustine’s friend Alypius fill my mind now even when writing this (see St. Augustine’s Confessions, Book VI, chapter 8). 

On Way of the Bible podcast Episode #024 | A Walk of the Beach with DrZ, I consider life in the Messianic kingdom to come as a model of how life as a believer in the world today is supposed to look. And when believers gather together to pray and worship it is the church (i.e. ekklēsia). (Note: From the very beginning of the church, it has never been perfect and needs constant oversight and care. And once turned by human will toward the world very difficult to turn back). 

The church, according to the Bible, is not a building or even a gathering of people in a building. The church is the gathering of the body of Christ (i.e. individuals in whom Christ dwells) for the purpose of prayer and worship. And when gathered (two or more) Jesus is there amongst His body ready and able to minister, guide, supply, and address concerns of the body.

Things to consider in a world being turned upside down. Especially knowing God is allowing this turning to accomplish His purposes in the world. Enjoy and share the listen… DrZ

#013 DrZ reveals New Testament revelations concerning God's eternal purpose in Jesus Christ for populating the eternal state with those who receive salvation by grace through faith. Until the final confrontation between God and Lucifer in Revelation 20, God is constantly rescuing humans out of slavery to the devil and adopting them into His eternal family. 

Numerous theological and faith based terms believers regularly encounter are defined and scripturally supported in this episode. The understanding of these terms and the implications to the church as revealed in scripture illuminate the manifold wisdom of God being manifest to the authorities and powers in the heavenly realms. God through Jesus Christ reconciled everything on earth and in heaven to Himself and provided the means for a creation without corruption that will last FOREVER!!

#012 DrZ reveals how the rebellion begun by Lucifer in heaven is resolved by God on earth. In Revelation 20, we see Satan being cast into the Lake of Fire along with the dead whose names were not written in the book of life. The dead going into the Lake of Fire had been judged based upon what they had done written in books opened at the great white throne judgment.

In Genesis 3, after the sin of Adam, we see God addressing the serpent [Lucifer]. God tells the serpent he's going crawl on his belly and eat dust of the earth all the days of his life (mankind is made of dust of the earth). And, his head would be crushed by a seed of the woman while his seed would bruise the woman's seeds heal. The woman's seed was Jesus!!

Lucifer, who had been given dominion over the earth, accepts the challenge of God. The war Lucifer began in heaven by his rebellion was going to be waged on the earth between he and God, using humanity as the front line troops for both sides.

The Old Testament records the working out of battle lines and initial skirmishes as Lucifer tries to wipe out mankind and the opportunity for the coming seed to be born. God is always in front of Lucifer preserving a remnant.

God chooses Abram as the man through whom He would build a nation of people and provide them a land to be a witness to all the earth of God's existence. Then God narrows the bloodline to the seed of the woman to a descendant of King David. Jews looked for the coming Messiah who would rule the world.

Try as he might, Lucifer was unable to get ahead of God and destroy the bloodline of David. Jesus fulfilled at least three hundred prophecies at His first coming. There are another 1900 prophecies yet fulfilled which will be fulfilled at His second coming.

#011 Genesis 1:26-27 tells us God made Mankind (male and female) in His Image and Likeness. Jesus tells us in John 4:24 that God is spirit. In this episode, DrZ unravels the conundrum of reconciling  how the Image and Likeness of God who is an eternal being and spirit can be manifest in a created being existing in a four dimensional physical reality.

For millennia theologians have struggled to fully define and understand from the Scriptures the metaphysical characteristics of God. And what metaphysical characteristics of God define his Image and Likeness in physical mankind.  

The bookends of mankind are pretty well established while yet not fully defined and/or understood. These bookends are the body of man, which is physical, and the spirit within man which is metaphysical. Within these bookends of mankind are the metaphysical mind, soul, heart, and strength (see Deut. 6:4-5; Luke 10:25:28; 1 Thess. 5:23). While much has been written and debated on each of these characteristics, DrZ only addresses them in a summary fashion; keeping it simple and to the point.
