ADDICTED TO WRITING. Benedetta Cibrario was born in Florence, Italy, in 1962, to a father from Turin and a mother from Naples. She is a writer who lives in London. Her books include Rossovermiglio (2007; Campiello Prize 2008), which was followed by Sotto cieli noncuranti (2009; Rapallo Carige Prize 2010), Lo Scurnuso (2011), L'uomo che dormiva al parco (2012) and Il Rumore del Mondo (finalist at Premio Strega 2019). Her latest work, Per ogni parola perduta,was published in 2022.

Sorti en 2021, Benedetta est le deuxième film français de Paul Verhoeven après Elle, et l'adaptation du livre "Soeur Benedetta" de Judith C. Brown. Il s'agit d'un projet particulièrement important pour le cinéaste, puisqu'il envisage de traiter la figure du Christ et ses symboles depuis le début de sa carrière ; et c'est au travers de la soeur italienne Benedetta Carlini, à la fois lesbienne, illuminée, manipulatrice et martyr, qu'il traite de cette figure de façon détournée. Au croisement de la foi, de l'institution, des relations de pouvoir et de la sexualité, Benedetta est un film riche, clivant, et qui assume son parti pris jusqu'au bout. Cependant, on peut reprocher au film son traitement de sœur Benedetta : pourquoi sacrifier la réalité historique de sa vie, si c'est pour y déverser tous les clichés de la sexualité lesbienne ? Face à ce dilemme, Alexandre, Roman et Laurélenn refont le procès de Benedetta dans ce nouvel épisode de Tonnerre sous les podcasts !

„Jeżeli mamy figurkę Matki Boskiej użytą jako dildo, jeżeli mamy seks z ukrzyżowanym Chrystusem, to jest to prowokacja” - mówi autorka podcastu „Awantura o kulturę”, Katarzyna Janowska. Słowa dotyczą głośnego filmu „Benedetta” Paula Verhoevena, który stał się pretekstem do dyskusji na temat bluźnierstwa w sztuce i granicach wolności artysty.

„Benedetta” wzbudziła protesty w Warszawie i wywołała falę oburzenia w środowiskach katolickich. A fundamentalistyczna organizacja katolicka Krucjata Młodych zdecydowała się na wysyłanie pisemnych protestów do polskiego dystrybutora filmu.

Kontrowersje dotyczą prawdziwej historii przedstawionej w filmie. Nie zdradzając wiele z jej treści, można powiedzieć, że to mająca miejsce w XVIII wieku, opowieść o włoskiej zakonnicy, walczącej z hierarchami Kościoła. Na ekranie można jednak zobaczyć wiele scen lesbijskiego seksu i masturbacji. Dla protestujących dzieło jest najczystszą w formie obrazą uczuć religijnych.

„Reżyser uznał, że nagość to już za mało, umieśćmy to jeszcze w klasztorze i będzie wokół tego wielkie halo” - recenzuje dalej  obraz Verhoevena Janowska.

Ale słowa mocnej krytyki padły też ze strony jednego z gości podcastu, znakomitego reżysera i scenarzysty Krzysztofa Zanussiego: „Nie wiem, do czego taka estetyka miałaby mi być w kinie potrzebna. Dla mnie, gdyby ten film, odnosił się do relacji duchowości i cielesności, to to byłoby bardzo, bardzo twórcze, bardzo szlachetne i bardzo ciekawe do zgłębienia, niekoniecznie zresztą na  historii z czasów baroku, ale można by to spokojnie opowiedzieć dzisiaj. Tu nie ma wielkich odkryć.  Na pewno ten film jest tak pomyślany, żeby wzbudzić protest. (…) To, czym film szokuje, to ta najbardziej banalna forma”.

Seks i cielesność to tematy tabu w Kościele. Wie to doskonale drugi gość podcastu „Awantura o kulturę” Justyna Kopińska. To autorka licznych reportaży o tematyce kościelnej. Mocno dziwią ją pozytywne recenzje „Benedetty”: obejrzałam ten film. Mnie się artystycznie bardzo nie podobał, ale potem sprawdziłam recenzje i osoby takie jak Tomasz Raczek zachwycały się filmem i dały mu niezwykle wysokie noty.

W podcaście Kopińska opowiada także o próbach wpływania na jej reportaże przez przedstawicieli Kościoła katolickiego.

Na końcu słuchacz znajdzie polecenia innych dzieł o podobnej tematyce, równie kontrowersyjnych. To autorska lista Katarzyny Janowskiej.
