That we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ.

Exodus: The Power of God's Presence | Exodus 25-27

Exodus: The Power of God's Presence | Exodus 25-27

Pastor of Formation & Mission Benjamin Kandt continues our Exodus series from a selection of verse in Exodus 25-27. He traces the biblical narrative of bridging the gap between heaven and earth, God and humanity. This journey, grounded in Exodus 25, reveals how God invites us to partner with Him in addressing this essential human issue. Jesus desires to dwell within His people, not merely among them, and the age-old veil separating God from man was ultimately torn apart by Christ.

Exploring the Future of Church Planting and Effective Evangelism in the PCA

Exploring the Future of Church Planting and Effective Evangelism in the PCA

Ever considered how many new churches we need to plant by 2050 to keep pace with the growth in our communities? It might surprise you - the number is a staggering 70,000! And how does the PCA fit into this picture? In this episode, Damein and Ben sit down with Irwyn Ince, the North American Coordinator for Mission to North America (MNA) as we navigate through his experiences, challenges, and successes in his second year of service. We tackle the hard reality of the PCA's role in addressing the church-planting needs for the future.

But that's not all - we also delve into the intricacies of church planting. It's not just about multiplying numbers; it's about diversity and a shift in mindset. With pointed conversations on immigration, credentialing, and language barriers, we unpack how we can better serve our global south. In our pursuit of effective evangelism, we also explore the principle of embracing discomfort, leaning into doctrinal commitments, and earning the right to share the gospel. Join us as we traverse the journey of church planting's future in the PCA, a journey filled with challenges, changes, and immense possibilities.

Learning About Biblical Critical Theory: A Commissioned Community

Learning About Biblical Critical Theory: A Commissioned Community

In this episode, Nate and Ben discuss the onset of their respective PhD programs and the value of reading tough texts in community. They discuss how this led to developing a Commissioned Community around reading Christopher Watkin's Biblical Critical Theory. They discuss how Watkin's book isn't about spoon-feeding answers; instead, it's about equipping us all to have insightful dialogues on cultural issues using the Bible. They also touch on the concept of secularism as a Christian idea, tracing it back to Augustine's City of God and City of Man. While culture changes over time, some antithesis remain the same, and Watkin is able to utilize the the story of Scripture to do what the tools of critical theory and modern French philosophy try to do in vain. The end result is a constructive engagement of culture, rather than a deconstructive or destructive one.

If you're interested in joining this Commissioned Community, which starts on Sept 10th, you can find more information in our app on Church Center.
