    Scripture Reference:

    John 11:1-44 (Jesus Raises Lazarus from the Dead)

    Subtitle:

    Jesus waited to visit his sick friend Lazarus, teaching us to value the process not just the result. There's purpose in the process.

    Summary:

    In this business devotional, we look at the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Upon learning Lazarus is sick, Jesus waits two more days before going to see him, because he loved Lazarus, Mary and Martha. This shows us God's timing is strategic, even when it's hard for us. As parents, we allow our kids to struggle so they can grow. Similarly, God allows difficulties because through them we gain wisdom and character.

    The episode encourages us to value the process, not just the result. Like Michael Jordan obsessively practicing basics daily, we should find joy in doing the hard work, not just celebrate fleeting wins. Most of life is the journey, so learning to enjoy the process of achieving goals makes us happier. Next time you face frustration in pursuing a dream, remember God is growing you, so see the blessing in the delay. Don't just endure trials - lean in to gain as much value from them as possible.

    Top 3 Growth Tips:

    • [2:55] Struggle builds greatness. God's timing is strategic, even when confusing.
    • [6:12] Jesus waited because he cared. Find the good in the process.
    • [9:55] Value the process and practice over winning. It’s the only way to guarantee winning. And bonus, you enjoy your life.

    069 – Using the Book of Proverbs as Your Business Coach

    069- Have you ever read the book of Proverbs for business advice?

    Recently a webinar speaker, Brian Dixon, mentioned that he read one chapter in the book or Proverbs every day and used the ideas to run his business based on what he learned there.

    The whole idea intrigued me and for the month of February, 2021, I will read one chapter each day to find Biblical business principles.

    Business lessons from the Bible

    There are so many helpful ideas in the Bible about running a business, but there is a heavy concentration of ideas on how to and how not to run your business in the book of Proverbs.

    In this week's episode, I explore just a few of the many verses from the book of Proverbs that give insight on how to run a business based on wisdom, righteousness, diligence, and respect for others.

     Here are just a few of the Proverbs for business success I cover:

    • Proverbs 3:5, 6, 9, 10,  27, 29  ESV
      5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
      and do not lean on your own understanding.
      6  In all your ways acknowledge him,
      and he will make straight your paths.
      9  Honor the LORD with your wealth
      and with the firstfruits of all your produce;
      10  then your barns will be filled with plenty,
      and your vats will be bursting with wine.
      27  Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
      when it is in your power to do it.
      29  Do not plan evil against your neighbor,
      who dwells trustingly beside you.
    • Proverbs 5:15,  ESV
      15  Drink water from your own cistern,
      flowing water from your own well.
    • Proverbs 10:2, 17  ESV
      2  Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
      but righteousness delivers from death
      17  Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life,
      but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.
    • Proverbs 12:11  ESV
      11  Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread,
       but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.
    • Proverbs 27:2, 23, 24  ESV
       2  Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;
       a stranger, and not your own lips.
       23  Know well the condition of your flocks,
       and give attention to your herds,
       24  for riches do not last forever;
       and does a crown endure to all generations?
