The baseball team just finished off an impressive four-game sweep over Gonzaga in the opening series of the 2023 baseball season. The men's basketball team has strung together its third-straight Big 12 victory to inch closer towards the NCAA Tournament conversation.

It's a rough year to play in the Big 12, and rougher yet if you've got deficiencies to shore up. Jamie and Eric chatted a bit about the injuries plaguing ISU, how wrong they were about the type of game we'd see against Kansas, and how to deal with the stress of Cyclone fandom.
Some positives!
Breece Hall's game-winning TD (in true Cyclone style) and volleyball upsets #13 Baylor. Could that win be a key to a burgeoning revenge plot between football and volleyball?!
Looking ahead to Farmageddon, Jamie is still mostly concerned by the lack of a trophy and Eric is worried for ISU's run game.
For next weekend, head to the Ten 12 Podcast or fire up an interview from season 1- the CFP is on break while Jamie finally has her honeymoon! We will be back 10/17, hopefully to talk a little Texas trash and ISU basketball.

The Steyer siblings finally got to watch a game live together... Sadly, the good luck wasn't there.
Iowa State dropped their first Big 12 game to preseason #1 Baylor. What's that mean going forward? Well, the sky isn't falling.
A few players stepped up, a few need to be more present, and it'd be really great to get one for more than a single play...
For conference game 2, Iowa State fans find themselves needing to recalibrate their expectations to account for a Kansas team suddenly showing they know what sport they're playing!
Plus, Cyclone Family Podcast alums have a big weekend- Congrats to Alison (Lacey) Otzelberger on her Hall of Fame induction and Bridget Carleton on leading Canada to a 3-0 start at the FIBA World Cub with 19 points against Japan!

Jamie Steyer Johnson and Eric Steyer have seen three wins and they're ready for more!
After a convincing win over Ohio in week 3, they discuss the breakout stars of the game and what that means for the Cyclones going forward. Plus, Jace Gilbert has a leg- can ISU figure out how to protect it?
Iowa State is back where they thrive- seeing some success yet flying under the radar as one of four 3-0 teams left in the conference.
Next, the Cyclones' biggest test yet- a disciplined Baylor team picked to finish first in the conference. Can Dekkers throw the team to a win? Will Cartevious Norton and Jake Remsburg return to give their team a boost? Jamie and Eric will both be present in Jack Trice to find out!

Jamie Steyer Johnson and Eric Steyer are back from a long weekend full of football (outside of the state of Iowa, gasp!)
They recap the Cyclones' win vs. SEMO, what surprised them, and what they learned about the team.
THEN, a very special guest is forced to cheerfully joins the CFP as the infamous HAwkeye Husband, Christian Johnson, hops on to give a little perspective on this year's Iowa squad (so Jamie and Eric didn't have to spend more precious research time on the TOE).
He talks depth chart and QB loyalty in Iowa City, then the three discuss each team's advantages, best case scenario, and whether there's any shot at having a FUN game besides simply winning.
