    CNCRT57: All About Limits
    CNCRT 57: All About Limits
CNC Router Tips Podcast Episode 57

It's all about limits. No really limits are what keeps chaos at bay on our CNC Router tables. In this episode of CNC Router Tips Podcast Bill Griggs answers a listener's question about limit switches and Home switches.

Shawn Jones asked, "When building a slaved Y axis machine, what is the convention for using limit/home switches? Are they need on both rails or on a single rail?"

In Episode 57 we explain how to hook up limit switches, homing switches for slaved axis machines and also why you might want a switch on each rail. We also examine reasons why you would not.

We also discuss the types of wire needed, where you can buy limit switches and also how many you would need.

We also discuss some of the upgrades I have planned for my CNC Router Table.

    CNCRT44: Build Your Own Makerspace
CNC Router Tips Podcast Episode 44
Build Your Own Makerspace with Mike Heidrick.

In the episode we talk with Mike Heidrick about why you should build your own makerspace. After trying unsuccessfully to work with local government to bring a makerspace to his community, Mike Heidrick decided to build his own makerspace. Aptly named the Mikeyspace, Mike built a 40’X64’X16’ polebarn with a 10’X24’ porch - two 14’X14’ overhead doors, 3 pedestrian doors, and 4 36”X48” double hung windows, and 5" thick concrete floor with radiant heat. The project has taken nearly 3 years to complete but features a full CNC machine shop, CNC woodworking shop, welding equipment and a drive in theater. And this is just the start.
