The newest episode of The Chi felt more like a transitional episode to move the storyline along. Not an "on the edge of your seat" type episode as the previous ones, but still gave you food for thought. The "Black Messiah"--two thoughts: (1) Trig understanding that more has to be done and more resources are needed, and (2) Keisha naming her baby boy after Ronnie, the man who saved her when she was kidnapped and missing.

For there to be verisimilitude in movies, there has to be someone who creates a fictional world around the protagonists! Today's guest Sam Lisenco, an incredible production designer who has worked on several of the biggest movies in recent years like: Uncut gems, Good Time, Frances Ha, and Judas and the Black Messiah which was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars 2021. Sam always knew he wanted to be a filmmaker, but he didn't know that his thing was production design until he started making short films with friends and realized that what he liked was the creative and aesthetic appearance of the movie. He went to Boston University, where he met Josh Safdie, they quickly became friends and began working together. His passion and effort is developed in all the projects he is involved in, which are almost always recognized by the public and festivals.

The Potluck of Entrepreneurship
Today I'm taking a look a Judas and the Black Messiah, a story about the Black Panther Party and what it means today and what it means to America's past. The film has some amazing actors, does a beautiful job of telling a very grim story and also lets you walk away feeling inspired, even if a little disheartened.
We're back! We don't say it, but this show is now seasonal and we're in season two. This episode Kevin and Jose talk about a video that steamed up culture and almost scorched a career: D'Angelo's "Untitled [How Does It Feel?]" We also talk about the Panic! at the Disco homage "Girls/Girls/Boys" starring Brendon Urie. And Jason Derulo.
