Johnny Turnbull Blockheads, Geldof, Dave Stewart, and many more 

In this episode I chat with the wonderful Johnny Turnbull. Johnny plays a few tunes and a few instruments as well, great fun!  

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England on 27th August 1950

Motto: I am always in the right place at the right time doing the right thing.

In Johnny’s own words

Some of the bands I have enjoyed working with are: Skip Bifferty, The Chosen Few, Loving Awareness, Glencoe, Nick Lowe, Dave Stewart and the Spiritual Cowboys, Eurythmics, Talk Talk, London Beat, Paul Young, Bob Geldof, World Party, Kaos Band, but most of all 'The Blockheads'.

I have also sung and played on film soundtracks since 1960's, most famous film being 'Get Carter' starring Michael Caine.

Pastimes and hobbies:- Yodelling / Skodelling / Whistling.

Welcome to Episode 15 of the Global Drum Network podcast. This time we feature our exclusive interview with DYLAN HOWE. Noted particularly for his work on drums with WILKO JOHNSON (on whose tour we catch up with him here), IAN DURY AND THE BLOCKHEADS and his father’s iconic Progrockers YES, Dylan is an accomplished and established figure on the jazz scene, as a Bandleader, Composer and Session Player.

We caught up backstage with Dylan as he enjoyed a little quiet time preparing for a show with the legendary Rhythm & Blues guitar eccentric WILKO JOHNSON. Don’t be surprised if there’s an unexpected contribution from Wilko himself (if not his Game of Thrones alter ego). So, as always, put your sticks down for a minute, take the weight off your feet, and enjoy!
