Thank you again for praying and supporting me until it got here. I cant believe it took so long. But now, I have a picture of her in my hand that was taken less than a month ago! I love that! Its like she is more real to me. The photos of her that were a year old, just never seemed to comfort me like a recent one can. OK, so our agency must have told the APs all to send exactly 12 pictures and a four page letter as the update. I think that is strange, and funny, but Ill talk about htat issue later. The reason I know is because I lived with 31 other birthmoms before the birth and we still keep in touch, some of us. We ALL get 12 pics and a four page letter! haha. But actually, some APs want and ask to send more to a fe of the birhtmoms. Its just funny how the birthmoms that are given the option of receiving more info are usually the ones that decided it is best to not know very much. And then over here on my end (the birthmoms that would take whatever scraps they throw out of their life) We are the ones that end up with the "uptght" parents. So I got a dvd too, but it wasnt the one they said they would send me of her last year, it was her bday this year the put on video. I am grateful, but I have to say I REALLY wanted to see more of her and in a different setting than staged looking almost. I want to see her when she wakes up ion the morning, or when she does all the funny things they say she does in the letter.

Birth Mothers have parted with a huge piece of themselves. Even the most independent woman will tell you that having a child changes a womans view of herself. Placing that child is akin to letting go of a piece of your self. It is just that!orse and much more difficult to become yourself again. Many ask us this question: And yes we are pro-life. We stand against abortion as a solution to an unplanned pregnancy. We promote life, and that will never change. We are sensitive though to all situations (My daughter was conceived through rape and therefore I feel I am not being hypocritical by saying that all children have a right to life, no matter what! Making the decision to place for adoption vs. parenting yourself is one of the hardest decisions of your life and it should be purely based on what is in the childs best interest. No matter how bad the results of an adoption turn out, the results of an abortion will always be worse. Currently, birth mothers have no legal representation against a skilled adoption lawyer hired by the APs. We may not be lawyers, but we have sat next to enough women through the legal process that we understand the lingo and can help the birth mother We do not "promote adoption" or promote "anti adoption" We are affiliated with no one but ourselves. The birth mothers who graciously volunteer to run this mission, have stories that cover almost every turnout possible in adoption! To classify us all into one group would defeat the purpose of the mission: Which is to show how Birth Mothers are not invisible women who all think alike. And they have things to say, if anyone would listen.

I for one am glad that in 1988 a group of women created "Birth Mothers Day" as the day before Mothers day, every year (the yellow rose as our symbol too. more info on website..) So think about if you know anyone in your life that has been affected in some way by adoption (a lot of folks) and consider remembering them on a day when everyone else seems to have forgotten them. Not only the birth mothers, but the adoptive family, extended family, friends, and of course the adopted child can benefit from a little acknowledgement that it is OK to be a part of adoption and proud of it. It is such a taboo subject today and no one wants to bring it up or remember and they claim they never know what to say if they were to try. . (they will blame us if the wording is not proper or PC enough for them! Thats fine...!) There are adoptive parents who could use a card at any time, adoptive grandparents too. There are cards Ive made to give from APs (adoptive parents) to a BMs (birth moms) OR for BMs to give to APs, or APs to give to "prospective birth mothers, OR birth grandparents to a birthmom or birthfather ) (When i say birth mother, I also am referring to first mothers ,natural mother or any other name you like to call them)
