    S1.E17: Tim Dillard (MLB)

    S1.E17: Tim Dillard (MLB)

Tim Dillard is former MLB pitcher who is currently the Pregame and Postgame Analyst for the Milwaukee Brewers. Dillard made his MLB debut in 2008 and got his first strikeout against current Yankees Manager, Aaron Boone. We were lucky enough to talk baseball with the funniest man in sports and hear about his journey which may or may not include hilarious stories about Bob Uecker, Jason Kendall and Gary Sheffield.

    How 'bout those Mompa Geese?

    How 'bout those Mompa Geese?

Patti and the Pottymouth propose a migratory bird name to replace the “Rays” if they move forward  on the sister city plan, splitting time between Tampreal and Mompa. We throw in for Pottymouth’s forever BF Juan Soto’s MVP bid. Her former forever BF Mookie Betts does right by Reds rookie TJ Friedl, a young player with qHAR potential. Meaningful gifts abound, as Patti’s forever BF Christian Yelich presents a pair of custom sneakers to Bob “Air” Uecker to celebrate 50 years announcing the Brewers, and Jon Lester bestows Rolexes on his two former catchers, David Ross and Willson Contreras, on his possibly last visit to Wrigley as a player. How did we miss Jose Siri’s call up after nine years in the minors? Because he’s with the Astros -- but what a debut!

It’s definitely the Police Blotter when a manager and pitcher receive suspensions for throwing at a player, but did the player do wrong? We look at Kevin Kiermaier, a dropped data card, sending a batboy to do a man’s job, and getting beaned in the  back by Ryan Borucki. Can’t everyone follow the lead of Jazz Chisolm and Josh Rogers and dance it out?

Veronica Alvarez coaches against Rachel Folden in the “instructs,” the roster for this week’s Congressional Baseball game includes several women, and we can’t wait for the ESPN upgrade of Jess Mendoza and Melanie Newman calling  Wednesday’s game. The US Women’s National Team shapes future players at a girls clinic. Plan your January visit to Sarasota for the All American Women’s  Baseball Classic. The IWBC is a step closer to building their museum. Six Cubans have defected so far during the WBSC’s 23U tournament in Mexico. The minor league’s crown their champs and the Triple A Final Stretch makes make-up games matter.

We say “zoning board,” “bicep boys,” and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“Forget about the curveball, Ricky. Give him the heater!”

Welcome back to another team-building, base-running, pennant-winning episode of THE FILM SNARKS!!!

Requested by some of our fellow snarks, and with Major League Baseball about to make its return on April 1st, we thought what better time to buy some peanuts and cracker jacks, hit the field and find out juuuust how a bit outside the 1989 sports comedy classic, Major League, still resonates 3 decades on!!

Don’t think this ones going the distance? Will it be a home run or a grand slam? Find out now, as Andrew and I discuss if Baseball is preferable to Football as America’s pastime, the history of sports movies, and just how bad drinking Jobu’s rum can be!!

    “Win the whole effin’ thing!”

    Major League

    Major League

The Plotaholics Sports Block continues this week as Bryan and Shane get into the official Plotaholics Time Machine to go back to the magical world of 1989 to visit Major League, starring The Substitute, Tiger Blood, Blade, Thor's Mom, and Michael J. Fox's aunt.

In this film the unlikable owner of the Cleveland Baseball Team hatches a nefarious plot to put together the worst team to take the diamond since the Bad News Bears as a ploy to make them bad enough to finish dead last all so she can move the team to Miami. Yeah, kids--there didn't used to be a baseball team in Miami back in 1989.

Unfortunately, the team decides they're going to win despite her. There's casual stalking, harassment, and all kinds of shenanigans in this sports comedy classic for you to enjoy! So sit back, relax, and listen to the guys go JUUUUUUUUUST a bit outside with this one!

Limited Appeal - A New Ballpark

Limited Appeal - A New Ballpark
We have a new segment, called "Ballpark Talk", in which the premise is to decide whether two things are in the same ballpark or different ones. Today's inaugural topic: cannibalism versus eating a pet. As usual, we explore many of the philosophical nuances here. What if it's a pet you know, versus a person you don't? What if the person died accidentally and humourously in a food preparation context? What if it's a person who is a pet? Does the relative deliciousness matter? We do not want to hear from anyone who has actually considered eating a person. Anyone else, though, can email us (maskedman@limitedappeal.net). Theme music courtesy of General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners and Ipecac Recordings.
