FNP 205 : Dave "Boon" Benton and Sarah Adams - "Benghazi: Know Thy Enemy"
Dave Benton also known as “Boon” was one of the Global Response Staff of the CIA working in Benghazi during the terrorist attack on September 11, 2012. During that attack, Dave and his partners attempted to rescue the US Ambassador and defend the CIA Annex while completely outnumbered. This account was told in the book “13 Hours” as well as the great movie of the same name. Sarah Adams also worked for the CIA as a Targeter and was in Benghazi leading up to that fateful day.
Many years after that attack, Dave and Sarah decided to write a book not only explaining what led up to the attack but also started a cold-case investigation into all the terrorists who perpetrated the attack and provide a detailed dossier on each of them.
Points from the podcast:
-Dave explains how training was the best preparation for dealing with the attack and their response.
-Dave and Sarah break down what led up to the attack on the US Consulate and why the media and Obama Administration covered it up.
-Dave and Sarah share how we need to be prepared for more attacks in the future since we have given up on Afghanistan and now it’s back to being a safe haven for terrorists.

How To Get Lost Or Be Seen In A Crowd?
Obscurity and privacy are as much a boon and a bane in current times.
The idea that part of our lives needs to be private for relative safety has become more center stage than ever. You may believe that obscurity can shield you from unwanted attention and allows you the freedom and opportunities to flourish. But, so can being open about your desires and ambitions attract the right opportunities your way.
So, where do you draw the balance?

With a bonus set from Jeremiah Watkins's show "Standup On The Spot" where I riff off what people in the audience throw out.

FNP 097 : Dave "Boon" Benton - Courage and Training
If you saw the movie “13 Hours” or read the book “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” then you know who my guest today is. Dave “Boon” Benton was one of four contractors who held the line in Benghazi when all odds were against them. Boon also had served previously in the Marine Corps and as a deputy sheriff. Currently Boon is teaching tactics and shooting to civilians and law enforcement.
In today’s episode, I talk to Boon about his training, competition, how to develop courage and even a little bit about his favorite movie topic, “Star Wars”. At Boon’s request we are not discussing the incident in Benghazi at this time, but we do find out what gun choice he uses for home defense.

#185: Kiss the Cook (@ThisDavidTaylor)
David Taylor met me at my LA AirBnb to talk about chefing. Chefing? Sure. David has been cooking for a few years now and he's gotten kind of into it. So we just talked about that. And of course, we meandered a crudload.

World's Toughest Mudder Changes and The O-Run Team Challenge
I was very skeptical about The O-Run Team Challenge. Del Boykin told me what almost every race director tells me. That his race is going to kick my butt and will exhaust me. I was pleasantly surprised when 3 friends and I took on the event recently here in Georgia. The obstacles were as heavy/difficult/challenging as any I have come across. (yes, including a Spartan). Listen in as I talk to Del about his race and how he can replicate this awesome event in other places.
Recently, Tough Mudder decided to open up The World's Toughest Mudder to all participants. They also announced more prize money, special awards, and support crews. You will hear from Nolan Kombol, Head of Course Design at TM as he answers the questions all of you want to know. I also thought it would be a good excuse to catch up with Amelia Boone. I had not spoken with Amelia in a few months and I thought I would catch up with how her year is going and learn her thoughts on this year's WTM changes.
...all that and a very special OCR athlete that has never given an interview anywhere before.
