GORDCAST 121 - SITTING COMFORTABLY IN THE PAST with STEPHEN BREIT!

STEPHEN BREIT returns to THE GORDCAST and we begin with the old podcast trope of “weather talk”and work into STEPHEN catching GORDIE up about his 2023 Live show experiences.

The talk is mostly music based so strap in for a music nerd-fest, but true to BREIT  episodes, there’s Chicago talk, t-shirt talk and a cliffhanger.

JETHRO TULL, PELICAN, LAGUARDIA, PARLIMENT-FUNKADELIC, SKATELITES, MAMMOTH, DOS SANTOS, BOTCH, FINCH, REFUSED, JEHNNY BETH, QUICKSAND, GORILLA BISCUITS, THE CURE, QOTSA, MISTER BUNGLE, BARONESS etcetera

Onderwerpen:
    • Chat Pile - Why (00:00)
    • Niels wil nog even zeuren over de geluidskwaliteit (30:12)
    • Pim wil nog even zeuren over identiteitspolitiek (34:55)
    • Shout-outs (01:21:23)

Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Sumac, These Arms Are Snakes, Botch, Torment & Glory, and more)

Brian Cook was the first ever guest on this podcast, and he is back with a vengeance...  Some of that is true.  But regardless of his thirst for revenge, Brian has had an insane two years since we last spoke.  Since then he has released a solo album which you should listen to here, These Arms Are Snakes had a reunion, Russian Circles recorded a new album, they toured with Korn and System of a Down, they had all their gear stolen, and so much more...

This is not the traditional Rigs of Dad long-form interview either... This is a glimpse into all the tangents and derailed conversations that always happen with every guest during the Lightning Crashes Lightning Round.  There was simply too much stuff to cut out, so I let a lot of that role for the release.  If you want to hear the whole thing, head over to the Rigs of Dad Patreon Page where you can hear that and all other extended interviews and beyond.

Be sure to listen to listen to any and all of Brian's music wherever you get your tunes.

Russian Circles can be heard here.

    Sumac can be heard here.

And you'll just have to listen to the episode to find out where you can hear These Arms and Botch next!!

Head over to Age of Ruin's Instagram and dive into some of the best thrash I have ever heard.  Their new album is coming soon.  It's produced by Mike Schleibaum of Darkest Hour and is just a relentless and refreshing metal cleanse.

EP. 13- Texas Life & Bad Wrestling With Heavy Metal Wrestling's Nerd Rock Josh & Dylan Dunbar; Rod Destiny Changes The National Anthem

EP. 13- Texas Life & Bad Wrestling With Heavy Metal Wrestling's Nerd Rock Josh & Dylan Dunbar; Rod Destiny Changes The National Anthem

Gregory Iron sits down with San Antonio-based Heavy Metal Wrestling promoters Dylan Dunbar & Nerd Rock Josh to talk Texas life and bad pro wrestling!

On December 23rd, 2019 Heavy Metal Wrestling will begin streaming all 50 episodes of their unique and entertaining weekly series "Thunder" FOR FREE on Twitch. While Heavy Metal will still be running monthly events, the weekly series came to a close this past November. Promoters and producers "Nerd Rock" Josh Del Barrio and Dylan Dunbar discuss how running weekly shows benefitted Texas wrestling, as well as Heavy Metal's creation.

Dunbar talks entering the business, training under the guidance of Kaientai member and Smackdown's #1 announcer -- Funaki, and Greg and Dunbar discuss an unbelievable incident that occurred between a terrible Texas pro wrestler named "Massive" and a fan sitting front row. Greg talks to Josh about touring with the band "We The Kings," the time he had to run to the video store to let Shawn Michaels borrow a DVD, and that other time he hung out at HBK's mom's house. This trio also discusses some of their favorite terrible pro wrestling matches, wrestler names, and so much more!

Before the podcast, Greg chats with Aaron about his insane travel weekend, going from Chicago to Buffalo on no sleep, wrestling Tommy Dreamer and taking an insane move from the top rope. Aaron discusses his return to pro wrestling commentary for one night only and tells us about the time Rod Destiny decided to change the National Anthem at a wrestling event.

Also, we bring you an all-new "Hulk Hogan Lie of the Week," featuring Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, and sticking with the bad wrestling theme, Greg plays a terrible promo from "Mr. RBI" Izeah Bonds.

Trained by WWE NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano in 2006, Iron has conquered his disability and gone on to work with some of the top names in wrestling including "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, CM Punk, The Dudley Boyz, Tomasso Ciampa and many others.

Co-host Aaron Bauer has worked in the professional wrestling industry for over two decades. A jack-of-all-trades, Aaron has worked in the industry as a local promoter for ECW events, a manager, and has provided color commentary over matches for some of the biggest stars in WWE, WCW, ECW, AEW, Impact & ROH.

    115. 2002 Mix Tape Draft, feat. Bill Conway of The Hard Times

Bill Conway, co-founder of The Hard Times stopped by to talk about his brand new podcast, his experience writing some of the funniest parody articles at The Hard Times, throw some straight edge shade towards Pat, and to draft his favorite songs from 2002 with us. As always, lots of great stories, and it was really awesome to hear the perspective of the music scene from someone quite a bit older than us. Needless to say, we have some new music to dig into.
