Sam Lofton's childhood was full of sports and competitiveness with her two siblings. She had difficulties along the way by the way of experiencing different emotions stemming from a traumatic head injury her sister faced while Sam was a youth player, which cut her own soccer career short.
Sam continued hers and found her way to James Madison University and to the professional ranks of the NWSL with Boston Breakers and Portland Thorns FC, before heading to Europe, and attributes her success to finding meditation along her journey.
She now works with youth athletes and teaches them the same techniques, which helped her achieve success on and off the field.
