As more people started to follow Jesus, you can see how a complicated set of conditions had to be met within the church. How do you respond when you’re under pressure? Do you try to escape the stress by losing yourself in worldly distractions? Or maybe you seek to control the situation and, ultimately, find yourself in worst shape than you started in? The truth is, we do not have the capacity to control or escape life’s stressors, so God offers us a better solution: surrender. When Jesus was overwhelmed to the point of death on the eve of his crucifixion, he prayed. Jesus chose to trust in God’s plan and surrender to His will, praying, in faith, “Yet not as I will, but as you will.” In times of great stress, we should follow Jesus’ perfect example and remember that, though surrender is not easy, the One we are surrendering to is good.

You can't move forward by staying the same. Time and time again, you may find yourself in the same old cycle, doomed to repeat it again. Something's got to give. Our current culture is failing. The moral compass of the world continues to move with no end in sight, wavering with public opinion. But the truth is, wrong is wrong. It doesn't matter how much you twist it to justify yourself. Jesus tells us that the church is called to be set apart from the world, to follow the truth established by God Himself and abide in His word. And as a result, the world will hate us for it because we do not subscribe to its ways. This calls for reflection. Do you have any subscriptions to the world?
