    Everlasting Good Health

    Everlasting Good Health

Welcome, dear listeners, to another episode of Navigate the Day!  Today's exploration takes us deep into the wisdom of Epictetus, unraveling the essence of "Everlasting Good Health."

Epictetus, in Discourses 3.26.23b-24, enlightens us about the true source of well-being—confidence in what is reliable, unhindered, and within our control, our reasoned choice. This Stoic philosophy beckons us to focus on our internal mindset, judgments, and choices, rather than external possessions that can be fleeting. It's an invitation to live with unshakeable confidence and contentment, aligning with the core principles of Stoicism.

Now, let's engage with today's reflective journal prompt: "What am I doing to build my self-confidence?"

In my own journey, building self-confidence is an ongoing process, especially as I navigate the aftermath of a significant falling out. Stepping out of my comfort zone has become a necessity for me, a deliberate choice to break free from the shackles of self-doubt and negativity. While my self-worth and image may have taken a hit, I am determined to emerge stronger and more self-assured.

The Stoics remind us to find faith in what is reliable and within our control—our reasoned choice. However, I confess that I've often found solace in dwelling on the past and fearing an uncertain future. Gary Vaynerchuk's wisdom on fear strikes a chord, emphasizing the need to push through fear for true happiness and growth. Comfort with discomfort is becoming a crucial skill in my quest for personal improvement and contributing constructively to the world.

Rebuilding self-confidence is a gradual process, and the void left by a significant relationship's absence poses its own challenges. Letting go and moving forward requires resilience and a commitment to growth. Despite the difficulty, I am determined to embrace this opportunity to rediscover myself and cultivate a stronger sense of self.

Recently, I stepped far out of my comfort zone by attending my workplace's Christmas party. Breaking the barrier between personal and professional life, I allowed my colleagues to know me a little more. It was an enriching experience, highlighting the importance of making the most of my current situation. As I connect with coworkers on a personal level, I aim to foster a more meaningful, supportive, and friendly work environment.

Life's reality can be challenging, but I've decided to use my current position as a catalyst for daily self-improvement. By embracing discomfort, connecting with others, and focusing on internal growth, I am confident that I can build everlasting good health—both in mind and spirit.

Thank you for joining me on this transformative journey. Until next time, keep navigating your day with intention, authenticity, and a growing sense of self-confidence!

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

It's time to embrace your unique brilliance

It's time to embrace your unique brilliance

You are brilliant. You’re doing awesome. You’re a freaking star.

There’s nothing that you’ve done wrong. Every experience you've ever had in your life has led you exactly to this perfect place on your journey. Isn't that amazing?

There is so much that makes each of us unique, exceptional, and truly brilliant. All it takes is a single moment of presence for you to feel into this. And yet, when is the last time you did?

So often, we spend our time in the churn of our surface-level emotions. It can be easy to get caught believing that these emotions is all that you are. But, if you were an ocean, this would be like believing that the wild waves that make up a mere 1% of you is all that exists! There is a magnificent body of water below that top 6 feet of rough churn, and in this space, it is peaceful and serene. The same is true for you.

Like the ocean, you have boundless brilliance within you. It's time to start becoming present with it so you can tap into it.

In this Thursday Thread episode, we pull a piece out of Reg Mahotra's episode from Tuesday where he speaks about feeling into your future self today. This is a key part of calling in the life that you truly desire. The more you can allow yourself to FEEL your manifestations right now in the present, the more magnetic you become to them.

The more you feel into your peace and brilliance, the more you naturally believe it. It's pretty easy to believe something when you can physically feel the sensations of it in your body!

How to amuse yourself more than you abuse yourself

How to amuse yourself more than you abuse yourself

Do you ever find yourself having self-deprecating thoughts? You're not alone. When we really stop to notice it, most people note that their internal dialogue is ... not very kind.

Any mindset coach will tell you the impact of negative self-talk. The implications of internal verbal abuse are genuinely dire when it comes to your desire to achieve your dreams because of the subconscious negative patterns and beliefs it creates.

So, how do we flip this internal script?

In this Thursday Thread episode, I pull a thread from the previous episode featuring Kristy Mandour where she shares the phrase, "Amuse yourself more than you abuse yourself.*"

This playful phrase is potent, reminding us of the importance of levity and fun – even to get us through the most challenging times. When you shift into the energy of silliness, laughter, fun, and play, you are less likely to speak to yourself in a negative tone. You are also tapping into your own inner creativity – which is an act of love.

When you catch yourself guilting yourself or worrying about how you're "wasting time" and "should be" doing other things, try creating personas to represent this pieces of yourself, while leaning into your natural aptitude for fun and creativity.

    Listen this episode to hear:

    • What do you when you have internal abusive thoughts.
    • How to personify the pieces and parts of yourself who sometimes annoy you by turning these personalities into characters.
    • How creating characters representing the negative voices in your head can bring levity and joy to your everyday life AND help you make genuine strides toward your goals
    • Why creating a cast of characters is similar to tools like breathwork and meditation in that it provides space between yourself and your flurry of thoughts

    Questions posed in this episode:

    • What is that thing that really gets in your way sometimes (worry, anger, guilt, procrastination, etc)?
    • What is a character from film, TV, or a celebrity who comes to mind who represents that personality?

*Remember that it's essential to prioritize your well-being and engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. If you find yourself abusing yourself in any way, whether physically or emotionally, seek help and support from professionals or support networks to address the underlying issues. Your health and happiness should always be a top priority.

**The quote "Amuse yourself more than you abuse yourself" came from the episode featuring Kristy Mandour. She heard this quote from Jakki Leonardini who learned it from her mentor.

Who do you Think you Are? (episode #20) - Dr. Diane Sukiennik

Who do you Think you Are? (episode #20) - Dr. Diane Sukiennik
In today’s episode, Glenn and I had the immensely joyful opportunity to chat with coach, keynote speaker, consultant, and leisurologist, Dr. Diane Sukiennik! From her beautiful opening response of "I am the ineffable lightness of being expressing itself with "joie de vivre"", our time with Diane was spent talking about joy, fulfillment, discovering what unique gifts we each have to bring to life, and the power, value, and ability to be of service through the work that we do. Diane also talked to us about her time with Penny Lane - a center that supports teen girls to build self-esteem and confidence through service and work; and how her time volunteering at the Career Planning Center was the inspirational stepping stone for her internationally renowned textbook, "Career Fitness Program", now in its 11th edition. On a more personal note, Diane spoke about how much she and her partner of 50 years, Michael, enjoy hosting people; bringing friends together for good food, great wine, sweet treats, and wonderful, engaging conversation. And that when it comes to living life, bringing and spreading joy is the greatest gift she can give to all in her orb! The above, along with playfulness, value, volunteering and making sure you're bringing your whole self to your work were just some of the other topics we hit on during our amazing conversation! This, and so much more...! Plus, there's the super fun Rapid Fire Question Round at the end! A new episode posted every other week!
