    Hva er en ryu?

    Hva er en ryu?

    I flere av episodene jeg allerede har lagt ut, har jeg snakket om «ryu». Men hva i alle dager er «ryu»? Det enkleste svaret på dette spørsmålet er å si at ordet ryu (流) kan oversettes med stil eller skole.

     Ordet «ryu» brukes nesten synonymt med dojo som vi har sett på i en tidligere episode, mens andre ganger representerer begrepet ryu den spesifikke stilarten det er snakk om. Det er litt sånn som når man snakker om «Osloskolen», og så er det liksom underforstått en hel del i tillegg til den faktiske skolebygningen. Da har man også sagt noe om innholdet, undervisningsmetodene og den kulturen for læring som ligger der.

    Sånn er det også når man bruker ordet «ryu». Da hekter man på en navn i forkant av ordet, for eksempel «Kito ryu» og så er det en hel del som skal være underforstått - bare på grunn av navnet.

    Det er altså den enkle og korte forklaringen, men dette ville jo ikke vært en skikkelig podcast om vi stoppet opp der. Det er nemlig flere viktige presiseringer som må til dersom man skal få en mer nøyaktig og helhetlig forståelse av begrepet ryu.

    Begrepet innebærer ganske mye mer enn det som er nevnt hittil, og det er dét denne episoden skal handle om.
