Episode 113 | Building a Resilient Brand with Madhav Srinath

Episode 113 | Building a Resilient Brand with Madhav Srinath

In April 2020, when the rest of the world was shutting down, Madhav Srinath was gearing up to launch his company.

With a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and a Master's of Science in Computer Science, Madhav brought his background together to found NexusLeap: an analytics consulting company that specializes in equipping companies with scalable decision-making tools, helping them become more efficient and cost-effective.

Madhav has deep technical expertise in data warehousing, business intelligence, and cloud application management. Before founding NexusLeap, he served on Microsoft's advisory board for their Artificial Intelligence product offerings in the cloud and has held several analytics leadership positions in consulting and product companies.

What started as a one-man show has turned into a successful company that not only survived the pandemic, but has grown tremendously since.

    Turning Tough Times into Opportunity

Before founding NexusLeap, Madhav was working as a sought-after consultant and helping a friend with fundraising for his Virtual Reality company. When Covid hit in early 2020 and the rest of the world hunkered down, Madhav decided to use it as an opportunity to get ahead.

When a client came to him for help solving a complex problem, he jumped at the chance. What started out as a solo consultancy grew quickly into NexusLeap.

Madhav freely admits that there may have been better times to launch a company – but with support from his wife (who joined the company a year later as their full-time COO), he was able to build solid foundations.

NexusLeap made the most of uncertain economic times to help their clients come out the other side stronger than ever. Since then, they’ve grown steadily year over year.

    The Power of “And”

Madhav is a firm believer in the power of differentiating your brand based on “and’s”. It’s not enough to be good at one thing; for a powerful differentiator, you need to bring multiple specialties together.

For example, NexusLeap builds technical infrastructure and collaborates with business functions. Lots of companies build tech infrastructure, but it’s marrying the two together that makes NexusLeap so unique. Madhav knew that in most companies, the tech and business teams were siloed. He wanted to find a way to facilitate collaboration between the two. NexusLeap helps companies bridge that gap, so that their entire organization speaks the same language and is driven by the same incentives.

Leveraging Your Personal Brand to Grow Your Business

Although NexusLeap started out as Madhav’s personal brand, the current priority is growing the company brand so that it can stand independently. As a respected name in the industry, Madhav uses his personal platform to help his network learn more about the company.

As a startup founder, Madhav wears a lot of different hats. Spending dedicated time on marketing and brand identity tends to take away from other areas of the business, which is why he prefers to let it happen organically.

When Madhav posts to LinkedIn, for example, it’s to share client results or how proud he is of his team’s work. He encourages all of his employees to do the same. And since they’ve spent time building long-term relationships with every team member, the result is that NexusLeap effortlessly attracts new clients and talent. They’ve built a brand that’s known for resilience, excellence, and loyalty. If you’re trying to grow your business’s brand visibility, think about what values you want to portray through your content.

Enjoy this episode with CEO and Founder Madhav Srinath…

    Quotes

“From a differentiation standpoint, I always believe in the power of ‘and’s’. If I’m good at building cloud infrastructure, that’s great but there are a lot of people that are good at that. But what is the and? If I’m good a building cloud infrastructure and collaborating with business functions, all of a sudden there’s this really dangerous combination that very people can compete with.”

“I think what we do really well is it’s not one or the other, it’s one and the other.”

“There were probably better times. But it’s one of those things, when you create a surface area for luck, when you see the opportunity and you’re able to do it…you have to go for it without thinking about it too much logically.”

“Companies are led by business problems, that’s what strings them along. The value is had by solving that business problem. Technology generally enables those problems to be solved, but companies have such a hard time bridging that gap.”

“As we grow, I see more and more of my team members filling in those gaps I left behind. As a human being, there are weaknesses I have in addition to my strengths. So it’s cool to see my team members fill in those gaps and make the brand bigger and bigger.”

Asking someone the question “who are you?” can send them into a tailspin. Your personal brand is you and it’s important to understand the enormous impact it can have when you are sharing your story. It’s time to get your message and mission out there. If putting yourself out there, promoting yourself, or even just getting comfortable with talking about who you are has been on your mind, then this is the episode for you.

Episode #60 How To Advance Your Business With Balance With Princeton Clark

Episode #60 How To Advance Your Business With Balance With Princeton Clark

Today’s guest, Princeton Clark, has spent the last 17.5 years working as a self-mastery coach. Clark owns and operates his self-mastery business, Evolved Mastery. He is also a published author, “Awakening Your Inner Master: The Journey of Self Mastery”, which you can purchase on Amazon. He is also a contract mastery coach for Tony Robbins.

Clark considers himself a servant on life’s journey, to help ignite everyone and change the world along the way. His purpose is to serve as many people as possible. He loves to elevate, impact and watch people grow. The more you help others, the more doors of opportunity open for both parties.

Understand the Things You Need to Calm the Chaos

When you start a business, it’s hard to delegate everything. Clark even says that he had to evolve many times over the years, and he continues this evolution even to this day. However, it’s important to understand that you shouldn’t do this alone. Mastery is all about releasing things and surrendering yourself to opportunities, love and others.

    Balance Your Tree

Picture your life as a tree. Business is only one branch of that tree. All your branches have leaves that include relationships, mental health, emotional state, physical health and your spirit. In life, your goal is to nurture all your branches. Stress only comes when you don’t have any balance on your tree.

So how do you bring back balance? You first need to reconnect with your soul. What is causing your issues, and how can you resolve them? Then, pay attention to what you are feeding your tree. For example, who are you surrounding yourself with, or have you practiced self-care recently? Once you have your equilibrium back, use your business to bring love, life and advancement to others.

    Be Present in the Moment

Once you own a business, you’re always on the go. You may get to the point where you’re stretching yourself too much. Instead, you need to “get present in the moment, (there is) no blueprint in your life. You are creating it every day.”

Ask yourself, how do you want to feel in life? Then, do the things that create that feeling. Always listen to your heart and create a life that aligns with your life’s goal feeling.

Episode #59 How To Be Visible and Credible In Business With Mitchell Levy

Episode #59 How To Be Visible and Credible In Business With Mitchell Levy

Today’s guest is Mitchell Levy, whose name you might recognize from one of the more than 60 books this bestselling author, entrepreneur, thought leader and global credibility expert has written. You may also have seen his TEDx Talk.

Mitchell has extensive entrepreneurial experience. He has created 20 businesses in Silicon Valley, four of which are publishing companies that have produced more than 750 books. He’s here now to share some of the wisdom he has accumulated over the years.

    A Focus on Credibility

Mitchell’s favorite thing about being an entrepreneur is freedom. He gets to decide what type of life he wants to live. Creating your own rules means you can challenge the status quo and serve your clients to the best of your ability.

For him, that means focusing on credibility. Credibility is a fundamental part of running a business because it’s how prospects decide whether they want to work with you. If you don’t have credibility, you don’t have clients.

The balance between the Credibility Nation and its opposite, the Dubious Nation, is skewed heavily in favor of dubiousness. Mitchell is dedicated to changing that.

    Finding Clarity

During his interviews with some of today’s most well-known thought leaders, Mitchell found that 98 percent of them needed more clarity when it came to their message. That’s almost everyone, but how can that be? Having a message is essential to promoting yourself and your business.

Sometimes, entrepreneurs know who they want to be, but they don’t know what it means or how to get there. If that’s how you feel, you can start working toward a solution by deciding who you want to serve and how you want to serve them.

Other times, entrepreneurs struggle with the fact that their time is finite. There will always be more work to do and more people to serve, but you also need time to take care of yourself and your family. Finding the balance between those factors is one of the most challenging things you will ever do. For clarity here, begin by asking yourself how you want to live. The rest will follow.

Are you looking to build your credibility or clarify your message? Mitchell offers credibility training and services. Visit his website to learn more. Check out his extensive bibliography, including his most recent book, “Credibility Nation: For Professionals Who Want to Be Seen as Credible.”.

Episode #58 How To Turn Technology Into Profit And Delight Your Clients With Catherine Behrenbrinker

Episode #58 How To Turn Technology Into Profit And Delight Your Clients With Catherine Behrenbrinker

Today’s guest, Catherine Behrenbrinker, is the president and CEO of Simplicity Communications. She likes to say that their main job is to read clients’ phone bills and delight them. Delighting comes in multiple forms at Simplicity, whether it is through eliminating issues, consolidating data, saving on costs, recommending other tools and or other helpful technical advances.

There are three focus keywords at Simplicity Communications — humble, hungry and smart. Catherine explains by knowing the DNA and characteristics of your brand, the easier time you will have in approaching challenges, obstacles and other daily activities.

As an entrepreneur, Catherine loves creating and executing her brand’s vision. She loves that she can not only be a leader but bring technology to customers as well as watch her clients and employees evolve and flourish.

    Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

In business, every day is overwhelming. As an entrepreneur, you have to “be comfortable with being uncomfortable” and figure out how to prioritize your goals, tasks and team. Don’t be afraid to focus on tools to help place people on the right task. Also, as a business owner, you must prioritize communication. Share learning experiences and collaborate to build a strong team.

While you want to embrace the chaos, you must also know when the chaos is healthy or unhealthy. Don’t force yourself to handle everything at once or even by yourself. Catherine wisely states that you cannot “eat an elephant at one time, not the whole thing.” Instead, each day you look at all aspects of your brand and get better along the way.

    Embrace Technology

The one thing Catherine hears over and over again from clients is how confused and intimidated they are by technology. Instead, many of them believe that it eats at the budget. However, Catherine advises people to “make technology a revenue producer.” There are so many tools and extensions that can help you improve efficiency and automate items.

Many of Catherine’s clients call Simplicity Communications the ‘Dragon Slayers’. They do everything in their power to improve their customers’ company, communication and overall experience. For example, Simplicity Communications helped a large grocery store chain not only reach historical savings but also bring in visibility and control costs. And who can say no to that?

Episode #57 How To Make Successful Progress As An Entrepreneur With Daniel Gomez

Today’s guest, Daniel Gomez, is an entrepreneur who wears many hats. Daniel works primarily as a keynote motivational speaker but also serves his clients as an executive confidence coach and corporate trainer.

    Who Is Daniel Gomez?

For Daniel, life and business are all about priorities. People always come first in his world, beginning with his family and extending outward from there. He encourages his clients and the audiences who hear him speak to discover who in their life deserves first priority, and give them the time and attention they deserve.

    What Are Daniel’s Core Principles?

Daniel stresses the importance of remaining open-hearted and intentional in what we do and say. The principles of open-heartedness and intentionality are core values to him, and both are also mission-critical to developing his “Champion’s Mindset.”

These two principles are also the driving force behind Daniel’s emphasis on the importance of personal connections between team members. Any leader seeking lasting growth must be committed to developing those strong connections. A business built without first building up your team is destined to fail.

Acting from an open heart with intentionality allows your team to connect with you and each other as you lead by example.

Episode #56 How To Prepare For The Most Important Moments With Dr. Rob Bell

Episode #56 How To Prepare For The Most Important Moments With Dr. Rob Bell

Today’s guest, Dr. Rob Bell, is a sports psychology coach who focuses on mental toughness for athletes of all kinds. However, mental toughness goes beyond the football field or the basketball court. In Rob’s mind, we’re all athletes, our offices are just different.

What is mental toughness? In Rob’s eyes, mental toughness is the ability to not only accomplish your goals but also to handle setbacks. While mental toughness alone won’t give you a trophy, lack of mental toughness can cause you to fail.

Some Battles are Worth Fighting, Even If We Lose

Rob’s favorite aspect of being in business is the ability to take shots even if they aren’t winning ones. He says it’s all about the opportunity. As entrepreneurs, we have the power to choose what shots we take. Why not take as many as possible? You never know what the outcome will be until you try.

Rob also emphasizes the importance of knowing your worth. It’s easy to be influenced by all the “no’s” and negative thoughts surrounding your work. Find your worth and charge accordingly for what you do best. You may still hear “no”, but it will make hearing “yes” much more valuable.

    Every Door Has a Hinge

Rob’s wisdom for fellow business owners is to always look for the hinges in life. We always hear how doors open and close with opportunities, but it’s really the hinge that directs the door. What are the hinges in life? It could be one person, one moment, one decision that can make a big difference in your life.

Sometimes, we can only see the impact of these hinges much later in life. Rob’s advice is to appreciate the journey, as that’s where all the growth and transformation comes from.

Rob is ready to work with athletes of all kinds. In addition to his coaching services, Rob also hosts the “15 Minutes of Mental Toughness” podcast and is the author of several best-selling books, including “Puke and Rally: It’s Not About the Setback, It’s About the Comeback”

Are you ready to increase your mental toughness? Schedule a call with Rob today by clicking here

Episode #55 How To Find Joy As An Entrepreneur With Laura Rotter

Episode #55 How To Find Joy As An Entrepreneur With Laura Rotter

Today’s guest, Laura Rotter, spent years working on Wall Street. One day, she woke up and realized that she was using her life to make money. Now, she uses money to make her life while helping others do the same.

Laura is the founder of True Abundance Advisors, a financial life-planning firm focused on helping mid-life professionals transition into new careers and opportunities. She strives to give her clients financial stability and satisfaction in their lives.

    Combining Freedom with Creativity
Laura’s favorite thing about being in business is the freedom to be creative. After starting her own business, she found joy in building the company with her ideal image. She has total freedom when it comes to marketing, sales and systems.

While not usually a fan of systems, she embraced having processes and workflows in place to enhance her freedom and creativity. She is now able to establish systems that work for her, which comes in handy during these crazy, uncertain times.

    Showing Gratitude as an Entrepreneur
As entrepreneurs and business owners, it’s easy for us to focus only on the destination, feeling dissatisfied with the journey and inevitable roadblocks along the way. Laura implores business owners to start practicing gratitude. Start focusing on all the good in your life, whether it be your team members, satisfied clients, friends or family.

Showing gratitude allows us to be more present. Many entrepreneurs let their ambition take over, losing sight of what’s going on in the present moment. Laura highlights the term “ease” as a way to help her slow down and take time for herself, practicing daily meditation and other mindfulness practices.

She encourages all business owners to take time for themselves. Whether it’s a 10-minute walk, going to the gym, eating a nourishing meal or writing in your journal, it’s essential to have time for peace and joy.

Are you a business professional going through a career change or life transformation? Laura is ready to help you! With over 30 years of experience, she’s an expert in financial planning and stability. Click here to visit her website and learn more about her services.
