AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi called the Citizenship Amendment Act wrong, discriminatory, and unconstitutional. He further said that he would take the matter to the Supreme Court. "This is wrong, discriminatory, and unconstitutional. Now that rules have been made, we will take the matter to Supreme Court," said Owaisi.

Addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad, Home Minister Amit Shah assured the CAA won't forfeit anyone's citizenship. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Asaduddin Owaisi are lying about the CAA. "Congress, AIMIM, and BRS oppose the government's move to grant citizenship to the persecuted minorities through CAA. CAA will not forfeit anyone's citizenship. It's a law that grants citizenship and not take it away... Owaisi, Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi are all lying," said Amit Shah.

Protests erupted across Assam with the Opposition parties slamming the Centre's decision to implement the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA), paving the way for granting citizenship to non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar yesterday questioned the timing of the Centre's decision to implement Citizenship law CAA just before the Lok Sabha polls.  He further added that CAA as a law is not needed the country.
