ENVISIONing Gender Authenticity with Jean Malpas.

Jean Malpas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor, founder of the Gender Family Project, at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in NY. He was born in Belgium. With a radio and TV news editor father; and a social worker mother, in a family where divorce, chronic illness, developmental disabilities, and differences of identities and opinions gave him his earliest and most valuable training in family dynamics and problem-solving.

He knew early on that he was gay and, after experiencing gender expression-based bullying in middle and high school, he moved to Brussels to attend college and open his horizons. There He discovered a vibrant academic and professional life and the thrill and beauty of queer communities. With the support of the Belgian American Education Foundation (BAEF) scholarship, he moved to New York City for a postgraduate year of research and study at NYU. What was supposed to be a year abroad turned out to be the beginning of his career and life in the big city. Twenty years later, he is proud to call NYC his home.

Why Milo Hartill Is Devastated About the Lizzo Allegations

Why Milo Hartill Is Devastated About the Lizzo Allegations

CW: This episode contains discussions of ableist slurs.

Actor, Model and self title Fat and Queer content creator Milo Hartill joins Yvie today!
And do we have some juice for you in this episode... pun intended.

We're chatting all about our reactions to the Lizzo lawsuit.
Talking about how quickly people have turned on her and used racism and fatphobic comments to shame her because of this incident. And also how dangerous it is to have one sole person as the face of a movement.

Plus we also chat about calling someone in, instead of calling them out and how to go about helping others learn if they've said something that is deemed offensive.

Plus Milo gives us the behind the scenes on her career, including working with Google, how she thought a talent scout was joking when he first offered her a job and how she constantly checks in with her self worth through work.

S5E7 - Animal Harm in Witchcraft

S5E7 - Animal Harm in Witchcraft

Elyse & Leandra investigate the difficult topic and historical precedence of animal harm in witchcraft. We look at  how modern witchcraft has changed the relationship witches have with energy, and discuss moral consequences of animal harm in light of recent conversations on social media. We also look at the usage of animals in magick in potentially more ethical ways, like feathers, found bones,  or whiskers.

Leandra and Elyse are here to keep you company, and remind you that celebrating with family today should never make you feel guilty: guilt is never a part of witchcraft. S4E3 - Witchy Community Etiquette: Calling Out vs. Calling In

S4E3 - Witchy Community Etiquette: Calling Out vs. Calling In

Join Leandra and Elyse as they discuss the importance of calling in during discussions in our community. It's hard not to get defensive when presented with ideas or practices that you don't agree with. Sometimes you might see someone doing something in their practice of witchcraft that is explicitly wrong, dangerous, or wasteful. But should you call them out? What is your goal by calling that person out? To make yourself feel superior... or to help them grow and change their behavior? Is what offended you even worth being offended over? Maybe it's a chance for growth.

Leandra & Elyse start by updating you and introducing you to the Magick Kitchen Pantry, the first and only online space for live events with both cohosts and a resource library for growing your path! All of Leandra & Elyse's courses are included as well as Table Talks, workshops you're invited to twice a month to dive deeper into your questions after each episode! They'll be recorded and included in the resource library as well. Join the Pantry by November 15th for 50% off with code EARLYBIRD50

Re-Release 11: (Ep. 11) Calling In, Manifesting, and Law of Attraction

We’re revisiting some of my favorite best episodes from the show while I’m out on maternity leave. Today we’re going back to Episode 11 for a conversation about how to tune into what turns you on. Listen as I share why it’s important to pay attention to the things, feelings, and experiences that make you feel alive. I explain what it means to “call in” and how this all relates to manifesting and the law of attraction. → Access the show notes for today’s episode here: https://www.kaileenelise.com/podcast/calling-in-manifesting-and-law-of-attraction

Power to the Student | Liz Kleinrock ’05 - Ep 11

In this episode of the Lives That Speak podcast, Bryan spoke to Liz Kleinrock ’05, an anti-bias, anti-racist educator and founder of Teach and Transform. We discuss curriculum development, how teachers can approach uncomfortable topics with their students, and the importance of calling in rather than calling out.

A transracial adoptee, Liz was born in South Korea and grew up in DC before attending Washington University in St. Louis. When not in the classroom, Liz works as a facilitator for schools, organizations, and companies across the country, developing anti-racist curricula. In 2018, Liz received Teaching Tolerance's 2018 Award for Excellence in Teaching, and her 2019 TED Talk from "Education Everywhere" has been viewed more than 2 and a half million times. You can also see her on the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center’s “We Are Not a Stereotype” series about breaking down bias against Asian Americans.

    E32 - Un-Teaching Taboo

    E32 - Un-Teaching Taboo

How do we not censor our youth so that they, as future adults, have a healthier relationship with taboo and difficult to talk about topics, especially when we have been raised to not talk about certain things ourselves? Basically, this is how to be woke-ass-parents.........if you want to. You do you. But also, like try it. :D
We have the potential to gift our children with some very powerful emotional, mental, & empathic intelligence.

Let us know what you liked about this episode. We definitely dropped the C word....How did that make you feel?

    Calling in

    Calling in

Is China the all powerful, all conquering nation that some believe it to be or is it 'in “decay” and beset by internal and regional challenges that will frustrate the nation’s grand ambitions'? Wokeness, cancel culture, and calling out have become almost a way of life in recent times. But instead of calling people out should we be calling them in? How safe are consumer goods in Australia and how can we make them safer? Just over 75 years ago the Nuremberg Trials began. How successful were they and how are they now remembered?
