10 Hollywood films we just can’t wait to watch in 2024

10 Hollywood films we just can’t wait to watch in 2024
2023 was a mixed bag for Hollywood. From the towering highs and euphoria of Barbenheimer to the actors' and writers' strikes that postponed numerous projects and even canned a few which makers felt, in retrospect, wouldn’t materialise. But now, with both strikes reaching a favourable conclusion, 2024 looks promising and we can’t wait for the slew of big-ticket Hollywood projects that are slated to drop this year. So in this episode of List Hai Toh Hit Hai, we’ve cobbled together a list of Hollywood films to look forward to in 2024.

    Bryce & Jill Morrison

    Bryce & Jill Morrison

Bryce and Jill Morrison are the co-founders of Mom Water. All-natural, non-carbonated, and available in flavors like the Julie (passionfruit) and the Karen (lemon-blueberry), Jill and Bryce created Mom Water for their group of parent friends before marketing it to the masses in four US states and counting. The beverage gained popularity through social media sites like TikTok, but also organically through the network of moms they discovered while creating the brand. “I've discovered how moms, when they like something or dislike something, they love to share it with all their friends. It’s this tight-knit community. They want to share that thing that they found with all the other moms, even though they might not have any other common ground.”

By making what they wanted to see on the market, Bryce and Julie created a product and a brand that resonates both universally and with a specific, powerful-yet-untapped group.

    Kristin Olszewski of Nomadica (S1)

    Kristin Olszewski of Nomadica (S1)

After earning a degree in Sustainable Agriculture, Kristin got her start in restaurants cooking in the Bay Area.  She joined the front of house team at Saison, where she was first exposed to French wine.  She has been a sommelier at Straight Wharf Restaurant in Nantucket, Husk Nashville, Osteria Mozza and Gigi’s Los Angeles. She is the Founder + CEO of Nomadica Wine where she thoughtfully curates a selection of high quality canned wine and one of 2021 Wine Enthusiast’s 40 under 40. She is passionate about working with high quality, small producers who focus on sustainable practices.

    But this is today.

Like any good story, Kristin’s journey took twists and turns. For many of us who yearn for deeper, richer experiences, it’s easy to get burned on the path of learning how to love yourself. Sometimes those lessons reach us in mysterious ways. And in the case of Kristin: via a former U.S. President.

    #2: At War with Spam

    #2: At War with Spam

    Are you hungry?

SPAM is a pink block of meat, but not only that -- it's in your phone, and your computer, and none of that sounds good, but trust us: it's okay.  We explore the etymology of the word "spam," both as a canned food stuff, and as obnoxious online stuff!

As "entrepreneurs," Devon and Matt can appreciate an obscure product with a catchy name, and do their best to come up with their own revolutionary products with revolutionary names. Would you buy them? How could you resist?? (hint: they don't exist. except for half of them.) We talk about how Spam got its name, both as the canned meat and as the online sensation.

We touch briefly on how Spam has found its way around the world as an essential mainstay of United States military action going as far back as WW2. Turns out, a lot of people care about Spam because of war! The other reason why people care about Spam is because of British Humour™.

If you were curious about license plate laws, abandoned amusement parks, or Pennsylvania Dutch anytime snacks, we talk about those, too.

Neither of us have ever even tried Spam, so our word is basically immaculate.

Upcycling Spent Grains from Beer to Crackers

Upcycling Spent Grains from Beer to Crackers

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy is following the grains trail from before the beer to way after. On the show is Tyler Fitzpatrick from Lamplighter Brewing Co. in Cambridge, MA; David Brand from Blue Ox Malthouse in Lisbon Falls, ME; and Kyle Fiasconaro from Brewer's Crackers in Somerville, MA.

Kyle takes us back to his first memory noticing a dumpster full of spent grain left outside a brewery, coincidentally right across from a bakery. As a brewer, Tyler explains just how difficult it can be to handle spent grain, especially when you are in a city with limited space. According to Tyler, it’s every brewer's fantasy to have somebody easily take all the spent grain off your hands, and one day, Kyle made that a reality.

Jimmy then takes it back to the beginning, having David walk us through a day in the life at the malthouse. David falls at the intersection between brewing and agriculture and is able to connect local brewers with regional farmers. David, Tyler, and Kyle explain just how much effort goes into the grain, and how much potential is still left over after the beer has been bottled or canned. Finally, the gang wraps up with a quick conversation about rye, and David predicts what we can expect from the next generation of “beer nerds.”

    E182: Beer and Freedom with 21st Amendment's Shaun O'Sullivan

    E182: Beer and Freedom with 21st Amendment's Shaun O'Sullivan
    Beer. BBQ. Fireworks. Freedom.

Right there in their name 21st Amendment Brewery celebrates one of the greatest freedoms of beer drinkers.  Just in case you aren't aware, the 21st Amendment ended Prohibition in the United States, bringing beer (and other booze) back to the people on December 5, 1933, Repeal Day.  Although the 4th of July is a big party for the brewery, co-founder and brewmaster Shaun O'Sullivan tells us Repeal Day (understandably) is their biggest celebration of the year.

O'Sullivan joins us this week to talk about all those amazing freedoms.  With label art that is all about America any of their beers are ready for the holiday.  We talk grillin' out and get the scoop on their new Sparkale, a sparkling Rosé Ale and O'Sullivan's pick for the best Independence Day beer.  Homebrewing and recipe development, the early days of canning craft beer, and reminiscing on some 21st Amendment beers of the past all come up in the conversation.

If you're in San Franciso stop in their brewpub or check out their brewery and taproom in San Francisco.  Otherwise, put on on some red, white, and blue, fire up the grill, and celebrate FREEDOM.
