'LET GO AND LET GOD' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'LET GO AND LET GOD' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION Human nature tends to have a "hang or hold on" mentality, as if something is always being forcibly, or even subtly taken away. We naturally tend to fight to avoid being victimized and vandalized by life. Thus the idea of letting go, releasing, or relinquishing seems foreign and a kind of malady, weakness or liability. When in reality, letting go can be the most powerful asset of your soul. Letting go can lead to an expanded self, releasing you to your most liberated and engaged personal existence. Letting go can sometimes mean letting God to artfully and graciously bridge your humanity to your divinity in the most sublime way. Join us all month while we work and walk through the process an progress of letting go! *Music: Cynthia Simmons, vocals, and Barron Ryan, piano SUBSCRIBE TO AUDIO PODCAST: WATCH THIS SERMON ON YOUTUBE: SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: GIVE A DONATION TO HELP US SPREAD THIS LOVE BEYOND BELIEF: or text LOVEBB to 73256 LET'S CONNECT: Facebook: Twitter: All Souls Church Website:

'SURVIVING HUMAN SPIRITUALITY' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'SURVIVING HUMAN SPIRITUALITY' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION To survive is to manage to keep going in difficult circumstances. Human spirituality can be both daring and dangerous because it involves imagination and experimentation with a neglected but natural part of our human essence. We're not just human beings seeking spiritual experiences, we are a spirit having an earthly encounter. Managing both is the primary charge and challenge of our human and humane psyche or soul. We have a mind and we have a body, but we ARE a spirit. Navigating and negotiating same is a daily and daunting task. Let's talk about it! 'AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND SPIRITUAL PRACTICES' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION African American History is steeped in the spiritual practices of both ancient African spirituality and Western Christianity.   The belief that one can be possessed by spirit, whether holy or unholy, is a form of superstition, myth and fairytale but so is life itself. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King combined both the tale and fairytales of life to create a movement that impacted challenges and changed important realities in our country and our culture. Join us all month here at All Souls as we continue to challenge and change the thinking of those who care and dare to connect to the experience and expression of our spiritual community! *Musical solo: Majeste Pearson SUBSCRIBE TO AUDIO PODCAST: WATCH THIS SERMON ON YOUTUBE: SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: GIVE A DONATION TO HELP US SPREAD THIS LOVE BEYOND BELIEF: or text LOVEBB to 73256 LET'S CONNECT: Facebook: Twitter: All Souls Church Website:

'WHAT'S SO AMAZING ABOUT GRACE?' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'WHAT'S SO AMAZING ABOUT GRACE?' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION What's amazing about the humanity of grace is that it can be expressed and experienced in and to every extreme and polarity. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the epitome of the expression of Grace. John Newton, the author of the famous song "Amazing Grace", a slave owner and trader most of his life, experienced an element of it in a most profound, life-threatening and supposedly life-changing way. To some, grace is unmerited favor, and to others it's enabling and/or empowerment. Grace is a human faculty and a spiritual charisma. When the two virtues are combined harmoniously is when it becomes truly amazing, positively effecting every area of your self, your soul and your life! 'THE HUMANITY OF GRACE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'THE HUMANITY OF GRACE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION The idea of grace tends to trigger religious thoughts of a God who measures grace through sympathy and a kindness. In a non-religious sense, grace is one reflecting the same traits of sympathy and kindness as entirely human, evolving and including benevolence, simple elegance, and refinement of movement or mind. Grace and graciousness is a culture and characteristic we embrace and encourage as a spiritual community here at All Souls. We begin 2019 with an emphasis on grace through January, projecting it into the entire year. Join me to make the start of the year a freshly inspired reality. 'MAY WE BE ONE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'MAY WE BE ONE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION William Cowper, the son of a minister, and 18th century poet, hymnodist wrote the phrase: “Variety's the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” A friend and mentee of John Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace, was an abolitionist and seems to have understood while living in England, the beauty of diversity and human community. A community is a small or large social unit that has something in common—norms, religion, values, or identity. The word itself is a combination of the two words; common and unity. Communion is likewise, common and union. Jesus prayed, "That they may be one." We pray "that we may be one." Our vision here at ALL Souls is to be both a physical and spiritual example of unity, diversity, a rainbow of colors, flavors and love beyond belief. Join us all month while we present and re-present this unique trait, trend, and target of our church community! 'ANOTHER GATHERING PLACE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION Where are the places that gather people in meaningful ways? There’s a big difference between being in other people’s company and encountering people in ways that change us all. This weekend is both All Souls annual Homecoming Sunday and the opening of Tulsa’s new $460,000,000 “Gathering Place” park. All Souls is a gathering place for people of various backgrounds and beliefs. If you’ve taken the summer off this is the day to return to All Souls. If you haven’t seen someone at church for a while, please reach out and invite them to come. The choirs have some wonderful music planned and our youth group will be serving fajitas for lunch as a fundraiser. We will have tables on the lawn and in Emerson Hall to gather and eat. Come to a service and then perhaps head to checkout the new park afterward. *Musical solo by Majeste Pearson. 'CORRECTING A CORRUPTED BIBLE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson

'CORRECTING A CORRUPTED BIBLE' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. DESCRIPTION Let's begin the process of revisiting, revising or, in some cases, reversing ideas and concepts based on varying cryptic interpretations of the bible. Interpretations have been programmed into the minds of people by religious systems, statements, and statutes—including church doctrines, dogma, and some church disciplines—causing millions of people to accept and/or adopt beliefs that have resulted in their loss of contact with what is real, factual, historical and spiritual. We need deprograming for reprograming to regain 21st century relevance. Music performed by Annie Ellicott, soloist; Jordan Hehl, bass; Rick Fortner, piano; David B. Smith, keyboards; Matthew Edwards, drums/percussion. 'GROW WITH THE FLOW' - A sermon by Carlton D. Pearson (10:00 a.m. Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION After spending the last two decades rebuilding and rebooting my life and ministry, my new purpose is aimed to help you examine and reconsider what you believe, why you believe it, and how those beliefs add to or subtract from the quality of your life. Life’s breakdowns can be turned into breakthroughs. We all go through Hell on Earth, but those experiences can transcend into positive experiences through how we react and respond to the Hell we experience. '2000 YEARS OF HELL' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson

'2000 YEARS OF HELL' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION The concept of hell is the most psychologically and emotionally debilitating concepts in human psychology, theology and philosophy. It has produced a kind of global psychosis and mental illness that has crippled and, all but paralyzed, the development of planetary peace and co-existence. After 50 years of believing and buying into the doctrine of eternal judgement and biblical torment, I stopped believing in such an aberrant concept, and I can assure you that there is a positive, practical, and spiritual life without the traditional teachings of infinite weeping, wailing, and gnashing of the teeth we’ve been taught the last 2000 years. She will share insight from her personal and spiritual journey -- from mega-church Pentecostalism to worshipping, joining, and working with All Souls. Come hear how this merging of hearts and cultures has changed us. 'JUSTICE: THE ILLUSIVE MYTH' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'JUSTICE: THE ILLUSIVE MYTH' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION "I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against." —Malcolm X Justice is the legal, moral or philosophical theory by which fairness is administered. The concept of justice often differs somewhat in every culture. Justice can be more mental than moral, or the other way around. Consciousness is the missing link to what is otherwise a cold and caustic concept. When applied without compassion and emotion, justice can be far more destructive than constructive. Justice need never be Draconian, but compassionate and sensitive to its individual beneficiaries. Here at All Souls we both intend and insist that Justice become and remain a working reality in our world! 'LIFE ISN'T FAIR' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'LIFE ISN'T FAIR' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION “Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” —Martin Luther King, Jr. Life is neither equal of fair, so we must learn to find justice in the life and psyche of our world that tends to be terrible and impossible at times. Justice is rooted in the word just which means behaving according to what is morally right and fair. This makes it hard to believe that life is fair. So, if indeed you feel that life isn’t fair, then how can we access and execute justice? During May, All Souls will present weekly discussions, sermons and lectures around the subject of the human virtue and vice of justice, fairness and equality. *Musical performance by Sarah Maud (vocals) and Jordan Hehl (bass). 'TRANSFORMED: THE REMODELED MIND' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)

'TRANSFORMED: THE REMODELED MIND' - A sermon by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson (Contemporary Service)
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION trans·form Origin: Greek verb To make a complete or radical change in the form, appearance, or character of. Synonyms: change, alter, convert, metamorphose, transfigure, transmute, mutate The English word metamorphosis is derived from the word transform, which refers to a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one. However, the reference in scripture is not so much about physical or physiological change, but more about mental, moral, and emotional change. This change has its root in spirit but is initiated in one's mind or through life. I call this mind remodeling. Remodeling is the process of improving a broken, damaged, or outdated structure or construct. To start our theme of transformation, I'll present various ways of remodeling our selves, our souls, and our systems. Through intentional transformation, we can be more current, more relevant, and more creatively productive. This all begins with the way we think, collectively and as individuals. What we think about, we bring about!
