Interview: Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly - Duke #1 Out December 27th

    1. Thanks for being on the AIPT Comics podcast, to start, when did you guys get the call, aka conscripted to join the Duke project?
    2. Did you get to put your own take on it, completely free, or was there a starting point given by Robert Kirkman or Hasbro?
    3. As someone who loved the toys but only remembers the cartoon lessons that ended episodes I have to say this first issue is exciting. A thriller, what made you take this angle on Duke?
    4. Tom, there’s a lot on your plate, from recreating classic vehicles to possibly updating costumes and looks. What has been the most fun to take on?
    5. Probably an impossible question, but did you have a favorite GI Joe growing up?
    6. There’s a definitive color story going on here via Jordie Bellaire, the crips oranges lend a certain feel. What is the team going for with how this book is colored?
    7. The GI Joe haters might say, “this property is just a bunch of human soldiers without powers running around.” What do you say to them?
    8. It’s well known at this point the Decepticons will be acquiring energy via Cobra, or in some capacity that is what’s going on. It’s early yet, but how do you integrate a multi-story robot into a gritty espionage story like Duke?

Segment Interview: Kenny Porter, Ryan Stegman, and Tyrell Cannon - Schlub. More info.  FOC for Issue 1 is July 31 - Release Date: August 23

    1. The premise of The Schlub is so perfect, so, “how did nobody think of this before,” what is the elevator pitch in your own words?
    2. Ryan, I know this was an idea you pitched a few years ago, how did the project change once Kenny and Tyrell came on board?
    3. The ashcan preview issue has been out for a little over a week. How has the response been so far?
    4. Is this a writing situation similar to Mike Mignola who works with tons of writers to bring Hellboy to life, Kenny & Tyrell are you running everything by Ryan who must approve every small detail? (joking)
    5. Now’s your chance to promote KLC Press and its Substack, what can Schlub fans get if they join? We’ve seen some cool process drawings on there!
    6. Was the design of Roger Dalton inspired by any person you may know, or a character?
    • What’s the design process like here for various characters? For Wyrm, did anyone say “more tubes!” or for Roger, did anyone say “schlubbier!”
    1. The premise has Roger switch with Cirrus, and while it’ll be great to see what Roger does with powers, will the story explore what Cirrus is going through in a very unhealthy human body?
    2. This book is funny, but it’s also full of action. In terms of both scripting and illustration, how do you balance laughs with tension?
    3. Tyrell, your style screams “there are easter eggs!” Is there a favorite thing you stuck into a scene or background in the series, and what is it so we can go looking?
    4. Anything else you fellas would like to plug today?

    1. Steve, friend of the show, this is your 5th time guesting on the AIPT Comics podcast, thanks for coming on! To start, man you have so many books out now, or coming out soon, from Exorcists Never Die #1 out this week, to Astonishing Iceman announced last week, how do you juggle so many projects at once?
    2. Exorcists Never Die is an action-focused story, how does writing religious/fantasy action in a book like this for Mad Cave differ from Spider-Man 2099 or in Marauders?
    3. Shifting gears to Spider-Man 2099, Maximum Carnage is clearly being referenced in the cover art, does this monthly-long weekly series pay homage, or more, from the classic Spider-Man story?
    4. Aside from Spider-Man 2099, do you have a favorite 2099 character?
    5. What’s it like writing Spider-Man 2099 knowing his voice may forever be Oscar Isaac’s in people's heads going forward?
    6. Iceman is a ways off, but for fans curious about your take on the character, is there any story arc or depictions of Bobby you hold dear that you connect with?
    7. Coming off Marauders, do you find it’s more difficult writing a solo book vs. a team book?
    8. We talk about Scarlet Witch on this podcast a lot, for fans on the fence, what was your original pitch for series?
    9. How did the addition of Darcy come about?
    10. The artwork in Scarlet Witch is gorgeous. How does magic work in the script and how often do you get a page back that just exceeds your wildest dreams?
    11. Anything else you’d like to plug today?

Pitch Pod Presents: Venom 1: Lethal Protector and Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage

On this weeks episode of Pitch Pod, Robert is taken over by a devilish Symbiote that carries with it an ego big enough to think it can pitch a better version of Venom 1 and Venom 2. Luckily Reagan is there to witness such an endeavor for scientific purposes. We hope you enjoy this journey into a far darker and more respectful take on the Venom story than Sony would ever dare.
