Teeth, Emotions, and Trauma: A Mind-Body-Soul Approach to Dentistry

Teeth, Emotions, and Trauma: A Mind-Body-Soul Approach to Dentistry

After 20 years as a regular dentist, Dr. Isabel thought that becoming a holistic and integrative dentist was necessary for the health and well-being of her patients. She got a Ph.D. in Integrative Medicine and studied biological dentistry and the nutritional and psycho-emotional connections between the mouth and the body. She is currently coaching her patients to find the root cause of their oral and whole-body imbalances.

She found that the body communicates through pain, symptoms, illnesses, emotions, and thoughts. She reached this conclusion after attempting to comprehend her and her patients' health issues. And chose to teach people through coaching, workshops, and retreats to be healthy and happy. She can identify the psycho-emotional blockage or limiting belief in your body and instruct you on how to discover it. Then, she assists you in learning them and creating new beliefs to obtain the health and life you deserve.

A Brighter Smile with Valerie Warren

A Brighter Smile with Valerie Warren

Every once in a while, we all need to be cared for and made to feel truly special. We may need relief from pain or perhaps help to overcome an issue that is affecting our self-esteem. Valerie Warren's life changed when she took action after discovering her family had countless health problems. She talks about the changes she made and how her gift as a dentist turned into a career of being a holistic dentist and why that matters to her patients. The 51st episode of All Heart with Paul Cardall is joined by Tina Cardall, Paul's wife. She introduced Paul to Valerie and also shares her brief history.

    About Valerie Warren:

Dr. Valerie Warren said, "I am a cosmetic and family dentist from Owensboro, KY. I am married to my husband Chris and together we have three awesome sons – Stephen, Hayden, and Nolan.

I knew I wanted a career that provided me the opportunity to care for and connect with people. I explored all aspects of healthcare and decided dentistry allowed me to combine my love for people, science, beauty, and my skill in art.

I am a very sensitive person. I like it when people smile at me. From the time I was a little girl, I judged whether I had gained a teacher’s approval by whether she smiled at me or not. This led me to my belief that a smile, both given and received, can change the way we feel and live.

Away from dentistry, I love to exercise, anything nutrition and health-related, and love being a mom. I like to travel, admire the beauty of nature, and all things associated with personal beauty and betterment – I have developed a very holistic lifestyle and practice."

Cavitation bubbles bursting with cleaning power

Cavitation bubbles bursting with cleaning power
It's easy to think of soap suds when one thinks of bubbles, but these bubbles can clean without chemicals. These are cavitation bubbles, which are created when air is churned up in water. And what researchers are learning could ultimately lead to chemical-free cleaning methods for fruits and vegetables. With support from NSF, biofluid scientist Sunghwan "Sunny" Jung and his team at Virginia Tech are studying how a cavitation bubble creates a suctioning effect when it collapses, pulling everything close by toward it. Cavitation bubbles are already in use for certain industrial applications, such as cleaning water at treatment plants. Jung's fluid mechanics lab is working with food scientists to see how effective cavitation bubbles are at pulling everything from soil to E. coli and Salmonella away from the smooth surface of a tomato or the bumpy surface of a cantaloupe. In the future, Jung envisions bubble machines as a common appliance at farmer's markets and maybe even in households.
