Massive NFL Free Agency Coverage, PGA Tour's Players Championship + Tim Brando Of Fox Sports Conversation | LWOS Media Podcast
The full force of "March Madness" is upon us and we've got one of the premier voices of the college game (in football, as well, as college hoops) in Tim Brando of Fox Sports joining us on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."

Host T.J. Rives back and first has thoughts on the absolute barrage of Free Agents changing teams Monday and Tuesday in the NFL and how the coverage and the audience continue to crow at staggering rates. It's incredible the mlilions and millions that care so much about the NFL off season and it has no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

T.J. also talks Golf briefly and the playing of the upcoming "unofficial 5th Major" in the Players Championship this weekend on Golf Channel and NBC sports. Sure, some of the best in the world are there, but nota all. T.J has takes and what about the NBC announce booth and have they settled on a lead commentator?

Then, it's our tremendous conversation with Tim Brando previewing the great action to come at the Big East tourney in Madison Square Garden for Fox Sports. Tim shares what it's like to be on the play by play call at such a hallowed event. Then, he and T.J. reminisce about the famed "Tornado game" of the SEC tournament in Atlanta in 2008. They were both there and on their respective TV and radio calls. Tim also shares his recollections of the crazy single day in Tampa just a few days later in the NCAA tourney where two #12s and two #13s all WON in upsets on the same court.

Awful Announcing's Ken Fang On His CBS SuperBowl Grades + GREAT Mike Tyson-Buster Douglas HBO Nostalgia | LWOS Media Podcast

Awful Announcing's Ken Fang On His CBS SuperBowl Grades + GREAT Mike Tyson-Buster Douglas HBO Nostalgia | LWOS Media Podcast
The Super Bowl is in the books with the Chiefs winning dramatically over the 49ers in OT and we're here to assess how CBS did broadcasting the game and more on the newest "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."

Host T.J. Rives is back and welcomes Ken Fang of Awful Announcing to go over the "highs and lows" of the biggest game of the football season. How did the team of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo do with their call? What about the coerage from CBS with their cameras, graphics and story telling? And, will Nantz and Romo both still be in the booth for the network's next Super Bowl in four years? Ken gives his insight with T.J. adding to it.

They also discuss the apparent extension for ESPN of the College Football Playoff coverage, when it looked like another TV network might get in for some of the playoff games. Does ESPN wield too much control of the sport? And, finally, it looks like more ESPN news as analyst J.J. Reddick may be about to join Mike Breen and Doris Burke on the top team replacing Doc Rivers. Some early discussion on how Reddick will do.

And, there's some boxing, yes Boxing, with the anniverary from 1990 of Buster Douglas stunning the sports world with his knockout of Mike Tyson. T.J. replays a convo with Boxing insder/authority Dan Rafael, about the magnitude of the win, but the fact that only HBO had the footage of the bout and they didn't even show the replay until a full week later! The guys also remember where they were and how they were able to see it.

Legendary CBS/ESPN-ABC Sports Broadcaster Brent Musburger Part II Tease | Tell Me A Story I Don't Know

Legendary CBS/ESPN-ABC Sports Broadcaster Brent Musburger Part II Tease | Tell Me A Story I Don't Know
We all have inspirations. Mine is Brent Musburger, one of this country’s most celebrated and successful sportscasters. As a 14 year old growing up in Chicago I was mesmerized watching him on local TV. I wanted to be him. Turns out I have fashioned a career spanning a half century. Musburger loves the fact that young people he’s come across feel the same about him as I do. Now 84 and host of “Countdown to Kickoff” on VSiN, Musburger shares more memorable stories in part two of this terrific podcast. For example, Musburger admits he only wanted to be a sports writer, which he was for the Chicago American. But he wound up being part of WBBM Newsradio’s inaugural year of 1968 He also joined the CBS TV affiliate here and the rest is history.

Musburger also discusses the tremendous success of the NFL Today, his stunning departure from CBS and subsequent hiring by ABC and ESPN. And then there’s just how “You are looking live” began.

Of all the interviews I’ve done, this is the most cherished of them all.

“Tell me a story I don’t know” is sponsored by Mr. Duct. (mrductcleanjng.com).
And my new book, “Tell me a story I don’t know: Conversations with Chicago sports legends” is available on Amazon books.

CBS NFL Analyst Tiki Barber Conversation And More! | Last Word On Sports Media Podcast
We are ready for the Thanksgiving holiday, but first, some interesting conversation and takes on sports media is forthcoming with CBS NFL TV analyst Tiki Barber as a guest and other sports media news and takes. It's all happening on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast!"

Host T.J. Rives is back and has his thoughts on the mess that Charissa Thompson of Fox Sports/Amazon NFL coverage created for herself by admitting that she fabricated/lied about doing halftime interviews and giving out other supposed information. Thompson appears to have escaped any punishment and T.J. has example after example about how firings have happened for fabrication in the media (sports or news) and how things are now just different.

Next, T.J. welcomes Tiki Barber, who was his previous partner 2020-22 on Compass Media Networks college football coverage. Now, Tiki is with the weekly CBS TV crew with play by play man Andrew Cantalon and former Falcons QB Matt Ryan. What's the adjustment from radio to TV? How much has Ryan helped Tiki with the "newer" NFL of the 2010s and 2020s? And, what was it like to be part of his brother Ronde's Pro Football Hall of Fame induction this past Summer?

Finally, T.J. has takes on the massive Monday Night Football TV numbers for the Chiefs-Eagles game, but, and it's a BUT, the numbers are not exactly comparable. He explains.

Hear it all on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple, Spreaker, Spotify, Google, etc.!!

Legendary CBS/ESPN-ABC Sports Broadcaster Brent Musburger Part I | Tell Me A Story I Don't Know
Imagine the countless stories Brent Musburger can tell. In an absolutely enthralling two part episode this iconic sportscaster recall several and in part one, the back stories behind the famous Doug Flutie “Hail Mary pass, the historic game six of the 1976 NBA finals and the marathon MLB playoff game between the Mets and Astros.

But Musburger also delves into his relationship with the late Bob Knight. The relationship started out on the wrong foot when Musburger broke the story Isiah Thomas would leave Indiana for the NBA. It induced the volatile coach to an expletive laced tirade against Musburger. The story of course, was true and later the two would work together in ESPN.

There’s more. How about the famous “Hail Mary” game when Doug Flutie heaved a final second touchdown pass that allowed Boston College to beat Miami in 1985. “All I could see is someone from Boston College caught the ball, secured it and it was a touchdown," Musburger says. The play and his call is one of the most iconic in college football history, even nearly 40 years later.

Now 84 and host of a Sunday show on VSiN called “Countdown to Kickoff,” Musburger remains a prominent presence in the media industry. And this is just part one!

“Tell me a story I don’t know is sponsored by Mr.Duct (mrductcleaningcom). And “Tell me a story I don’t know :Conversations with Chicago sports legends” is now available on Amazon books and local bookstores in and around the Chicago area.
