    Message: Jonah Chapter 2

    Message: Jonah Chapter 2

God’s love for mankind is relentless. The story of Jonah is a subversive story where nothing is as you would expect. God pursues those who are far from him and has compassion on them. God’s prophet however, hates that God loves his enemies and even tries to thwart God’s rescue plan. This story is short and compact, is chalk full of twists and turns and makes the case that for God, people always have potential. Even when people are perceived to be our enemies, God’s love is relentless and he is inviting us into this great rescue mission. This book forces us to look in the mirror, consider our hearts and motives, and invites us into God’s great rescue plan.

    Day 341: The Theological Virtues

    Day 341: The Theological Virtues
The Catechism reveals the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love as additional “wellsprings” of prayer for us to connect with the Father. Fr. Mike explains that we must enter into prayer with faith, pray in hope, and love as God loves us. Fr. Mike also addresses the Catechism's view on praying in the present, not looking at the past or future. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 2656-2662. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Day 340: Scripture and the Liturgy

Day 340: Scripture and the Liturgy
How do we pray? Prayer is essential for our relationship with the Lord. The Catechism teaches that we must study the Scriptures, learn how to pray, and have the will to pray. Fr. Mike shares two different sources of prayer: the Word of God and the Liturgy of the Church. He explains how the Holy Spirit guides us in prayer and teaches us how to speak with God. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 2650-2655. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB.
