Ezekiel 1-4 | Prophet's Vigil: Ezekiel as God's Watchful Messenger

Ezekiel 1-4 | Prophet's Vigil: Ezekiel as God's Watchful Messenger

In the opening chapter of the Book of Ezekiel, the prophet recounts a powerful and awe-inspiring vision that encapsulates both the divine majesty and the mysterious realm of the heavenly. As the prophet stands among the exiled Israelites by the River Chebar, he witnesses an extraordinary sight: a whirlwind, within which are four living creatures, each with four faces representing different aspects of creation – human, lion, ox, and eagle. These creatures move in perfect harmony, reflecting the divine order in creation. Above them, a sparkling expanse like crystal stretches out, and upon it, a throne-like appearance resembling sapphire, with a figure that radiates the appearance of fire. This is the glorious and overwhelming presence of God. The vision portrays a realm beyond human understanding, conveying the profound nature of God's sovereignty, and emphasizing Ezekiel's role as a messenger to the exiled community.

In the second chapter, Ezekiel receives a divine call that commissions him as a prophet to the rebellious house of Israel. The context is one of adversity, as God acknowledges the stubbornness and disobedience of the people. Despite this, Ezekiel is tasked with delivering God's messages, knowing that the people might not listen. He's given a scroll to eat, symbolizing the internalization of God's words and the weight of the message he carries. This chapter marks the prophet's preparation for a challenging mission – to warn, admonish, and encourage the people in the midst of their disobedience and the looming judgment.

Ezekiel 3 continues the prophet's narrative, focusing on his role as a watchman over the people of Israel. He's tasked with sounding the alarm when he perceives impending danger, both in the physical realm and the spiritual. The chapter emphasizes Ezekiel's accountability – if he fails to warn the wicked, their blood will be on his hands. This responsibility highlights the gravity of his mission and underscores the urgency of his message. Additionally, Ezekiel experiences a moment of divine empowerment as he's lifted by the Spirit, illustrating the connection between his role as a prophet and the divine presence guiding his words and actions.

In the fourth chapter, Ezekiel is instructed to enact a series of symbolic acts that convey God's judgment upon Jerusalem and the impending siege. He's commanded to create a model of the city under siege, lying on his side for an extended period to represent the years of Israel's and Judah's iniquity. This physical demonstration serves as a visual prophecy, illustrating the severity of the coming judgment. Ezekiel's dietary restrictions during this period also symbolize the scarcity and desperation that will accompany the siege.

Episode 146: An Air of Great Power: On the Chariot in the Tarot

Episode 146: An Air of Great Power: On the Chariot in the Tarot
Of the twenty-two figures that make up the major arcana of the tarot, the Chariot is probably the most commonplace. While the tenth arcanum is a wheel, it's The Wheel of Fortune, not just any old wagon wheel. But arcanum VII is neither the Chariot of Fire or the Chariot of the Gods – just the plain old chariot. Usually, it is interpreted as a symbol of the will in its lower and higher aspects. In this episode, Phil notes that the Chariot can also symbolize something as ordinary as new car. Of course, here on Weird Studies, no car is just a car, and we like to think that Youngblood Priest, the protagonist of the 1972 film Super Fly, would agree. A car also a tool, a medium, a token of mastery, an atmospheric disturbance, a means of manifestation, a spaceship... Tarot and Divine Metaphysics with Reverend Geraldine Hodson - 009

Tarot and Divine Metaphysics with Reverend Geraldine Hodson - 009

Geraldine’s became interested in Tarot after having a Tarot reading herself that was so accurate and powerful that she felt she had to learn more about Tarot.  She later moved to Hawaii and met her teacher who was a Spiritualist, a Kahuna, and a Master at the Tarot.  This teacher taught Geraldine about the spiritual aspect of the Tarot.  The Tarot taught Geraldine how her own inner psyche was contributing to her life.

    1. Tarot is a pictorial picture of the story of our lives, from the time we are born until we die.  A language of the unconscious mind.  A telephone to the images that are in our unconscious mind.
    2. The unconscious mind speaks and thinks in images.   Aristotle even said the soul thinks in images.
    3. The Tarot allows us to discover the patterns in our lives, what is driving us, so we can consciously act toward what it is we want to create.  Tarot helps us claim our power and put us in a place of choice rather than victimhood.
    4. The real gifts of the Tarot are what the Tarot can teach us about the processes of the unconscious mind.  What part of myself am I not seeing that is projecting outward in creating my life experience?
    5. In working with Tarot on your own, you can ask the cards a question and pull a Tarot card, let the card speak to you, do some journaling, have a conversation with the image, ask the card or image what its message is for you, draw the card, paint it, and pick a card a day and use it as a filter through which you experience the day’s activities and events.
    6. There are many meanings for each card.  The meaning can be influenced by many things including its position in a spread, the cards around it, the client you are reading for, and the question that the client has asked the reader.
    7. Geraldine has more than 200 Tarot decks, each deck an interpretation by the creator and artists for that particular deck.
    8. Cut your teeth on Rider Waite Smith deck but choose Tarot decks that really speak to you to work with.  Begin by working with the 22 Major Arcana and the 4 Aces.
    9. Formulating the question is very important for a valuable Tarot reading.  Avoid using the word “should” in your question because it is limiting your power and sense of choice.  The best questions are specific and open-ended.  You want to be careful NOT to reinforce a victim mentality.
    10. Think about Tarot as fortune-creation rather than fortune-telling.  The Tarot helps us to “possibilize” the future.
    11. Why do we use Tarot?  Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it “fate.” – Carl Jung
    12. A good Tarot reader will educate potential clients on how he or she works and how to formulate questions to get the most from a reading.
    13. Geraldine is an ordained minister in Divine Metaphysics.  Divine Metaphysics believes there is an energy field or universal divine intelligence.  It teaches the power of the mind is huge and that many of us are using only a very small percentage of our mind.  We are creators of the life we have.
    14. The power is not in the Tarot cards – they are simply paper.  Rather, it’s the power of our mind and the power of spirit that is able to speak to us and through us with Tarot images.
    15. Geraldine’s favorite cards are The Hermit and The Chariot.  The light that the Hermit holds is really that divine light within us.  The spiritual path is really connecting to that divine light within.  The energy of The Chariot can help us to be in charge of our destiny.
    16. The minor arcana have to do with everyday life.  Major Arcana cards represent the big picture, spiritual forces.
    17. A Tarot reading can take your intuitive spark or idea and help you grow it into something fantastic.

Racetrack Riots: Justinian and the Nika Revolt

Racetrack Riots: Justinian and the Nika Revolt

If you were a Roman citizen living in Constantinople in the 530's, your life revolved around one thing: chariot racing. Roman society cheered for one of two rival factions of charioteers: the Blues and Greens. While the Roman world around them changed radically, the people of Constantinople consoled themselves by supporting their team. It became part of their identity.

But when the new emperor sentenced leaders of both teams to death and the executions were botched, the two factions forgot their differences and rose up in rebellion. Join us as we talk about one of the most interesting emperors in Roman history, his brilliant and courageous wife, and how what started as a day at the races nearly destroyed the largest city in the world.

    Episode 169: Exodus - New Information, (26 of 26)

    Episode 169: Exodus - New Information, (26 of 26)
For more information and sources you could check out http://akinforthetruth.net.   For myself, I have not found criticisms of the central themes of this research very compelling. For example, perhaps one of the more notable argument sets I have found is that produced by the group authoring the article series “Debunking Christianity”. At their website they enlist SEVEN Criticisms of Wyatt’s Claim that he discovered and photographed a 3,500 year old “Egyptian Chariot Wheel” .   On another website, a critic claims to have attempted to reproduce the route traveled by Moller and his group, a journey in which he claims that “none of the discoveries claimed in the movie “The Exodus Revealed” were observed. Unfortunately, to date, and unlike Moller and his group, they themselves produced no photographed or video documentation of their research.   Therefore, to date, despite accusations of poor research and outright fraud by his critics, I personally have found no reason to doubt his findings, or his documentation.   The following, regardless, seems very clearly true to me:   1)    Those settlements in Goshen are clearly non-Egyptian, ancient Hebrew-like settlements; 2)    Paul states clearly in Galatians that Mt. Sinai is in Arabia; 3)    Paul’s statement is in concert with those of all respected historians, Christian or not; 4)    The land of Midian, and the uncovered city of Madian, is in Saudi Arabia, not in the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula; 5)    The crossings proposed across the Suez are not reasonable or believable, for many reasons; 6)    The route proposed to have been taken by Moses when escaping from Pharaoh the first time, and then some forty years later by he and Israel, the existence of mining operations in the south and existence of dangerous nations in the north, and the geographic facts enlisted by the movie, are quite convincing to me; 7)    The existence of a large beachhead at the end of the proposed route that the Israelis and Moses took, the existence of a land bridge with from the Peninsula to Saudi Arabia, and the belief by Solomon some four hundred years after the event that this point was in fact that of the crossing are powerful arguments; 8)    The un-natural formations of coral to form the shapes of chariot wheels and chariot axles shown on photographs are very compelling, and seem difficult to impossible to fake; 9)    Forging or faking the archaeological documentation presented in this movie seems to me difficult and unlikely. I have seen many “facts” put forth by others, supported by far more flimsy archaeological backing (e.g. Leakey’s Austalopithecus, Homo habilis, and the evolution of the whale, just to name a very few).

    Episode 168: Exodus - New Information, (25 of 26)

    Episode 168: Exodus - New Information, (25 of 26)
For more information and sources you could check out http://akinforthetruth.net.   Previous theories portraying the path of the Exodus and location of Mt. Horeb, or Sinai, have not been supported by any research of Jewish tradition or archaeological discovery, and so have reflected poorly on the viability, in the opinion of the scientific community, on the accuracy of the Biblical account of the Exodus.   However, fresh research has been accomplished, shedding new light, beginning with the discovery Israeli settlements in Goshen dated to Joseph’s time, the appearance centuries later of the Hebrews, and the nation of Israel in Canaan, location of the Mountain of God via historical evidence and archaeological inference in Northwestern Arabia by ancient Midian, and a trade route through a system of dried riverbeds terminating at the only possible campsite west of the Gulf of Aqaba, referred to as the Red Sea, the Nuweiba Peninsula, under which has been found chariot wheel-base looking coral and metallic debris structures resembling 18th dynasty Egyptian chariot wheels, and a sand-silt underwater pathway connecting the Peninsula with the Arabian shore line eleven miles due east.   And so, as is clearly stated in Exodus 14:29, “They went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel.”

    Episode 167: Exodus - New Information, (24 of 26)

    Episode 167: Exodus - New Information, (24 of 26)
For more information and sources you could check out http://akinforthetruth.net.   In our effort to trace the Exodus, we can produce an outline of what we have learned so far as follows:   1) As stated in Galatians 4:25, and confirmed by ancient historians and modern archaeology, Mt. Sinai, or Mt. Horab, is in Arabia, near the ancient, recently discovered city of Midian, not near the southern Sinai Peninsula of Christian lore; 2) the Biblically asserted times and location of Joseph and the Hebrews is archaeologically supported to be in Goshen (Tel El Daba); 3) the location of these two, even if approximate, along with the geography of the land and knowledge of other nations and where they were located during those times; 4) the enslavement of the Joseph’s family sometime after his death, the forced labor of these people by the Egyptians to make bricks for Egyptian building projects is archaeologically supported, for example by wall paintings showing Semites engaged in brick-making from the tomb of Rekhmire, to Pharaoh Amenhotep I; 5) at least some of these Hebrew settlements were destroyed, covered at some locations by Hyksos buildings (eg the palace at Tel El Daba); 6) the early dates presented by these Scriptural assertions and archaeological finds implicate the Hyksos invaders, who ruled Egypt for about 108 years, were the ones who did not know Joseph and who initially enslaved the Israelites; 7) the presence of what was considered by the Egyptians and Canaanite nations as nomads, were in Canaan, and were threatening the very existence of the nations in Canaan, as documented by mid-1330s BC letters from , the Egyptian vassal ruler of in the period; 8) the nation of Israel is specifically named in the Israel stele, a 13th century tablet found in a 3200 year-old poem, written by Merneptah; 9) the gulf of Aquba, rather than the traditionally-held Gulf of Suez, is the better candidate by far for the Red Sea crossing, and Nuweiba Peninsula seems the only feasible crossing point along that Gulf; 10) Undersea research at the gulf where it extends beyond Nuweiba reveals a 5000 foot and more wide land-bridge, ancient Egyptian wagon-wheel and axle shaped coral formations, making a foot crossing, given a remarkable sea parting occurs first; 11) after locating Mt. Sinai and the Red Sea Crossing, the route from Goshen seems clearly to be along common trade routes used at the time, across the Sinai Penisula.

    Episode 165: Exodus - New Information, (22 of 26)

    Episode 165: Exodus - New Information, (22 of 26)
For more information and sources you could check out http://akinforthetruth.net.   Last time we looked at powerful inferences of discovered chariot-wheel and axle – shaped coral discovered, photographed and videoed, on the sea floor at the gulf of Aqaba, as it extends from the Nuweiba Peninsula. We noted that these formations exclude any recent site-seeding, or planting of evidence, because, though one could have dropped chariot wheels and axles into this area, no one can simulate coral shaped like chariot wheels and axles. The coral had to have been shaped over a very long time period. Additionally, the deterioration of the base materials beneath these coral formations is very compelling. It testifies to very old age.   But this evidence, found undersea to confirm the reasoning, Scriptural inference and archaeological evidence that brought us to the Nuweiba Peninsula, does not exist in a vacuum. Further understanding is provided by other undersea observations.   These observations help speak to the question “Even if the nearly inconceivable miracle of parting this sea happened, how could men, women, young and old, and children, with all their belongings, and wheeled carts, cross this sea floor”. Nearly all of the Gulf of Aqaba’s sea floors are thick with coral, craggy and/or sharp rock outcroppings, and very steep.   As one should expect, the mountainous terrain surrounding the Gulf of Aqaba continues beneath the surface of the sea, and so the sea floor is treacherous and steep. So Moller decided to further investigate in the Spring of 2000.
