Ben Gordon: Former UConn & NBA Star

Ben Gordon: Former UConn & NBA Star

We have an amazing episode today! This one is about as real as it gets. It is an honor to announce that Ben Gordon drops in to share his basketball journey with us for a conversation we will never forget.

Ben Gordon starred at UConn where he was the Big East Tournament MVP and an NCAA Champion. He went on to become the 3rd overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft and was the first and only rookie to win the Sixth Man of the Year Award with the Chicago Bulls. Gordon had an outstanding NBA career that included many clutch moments in a very memorable playoff series. Gordon shares all about growing up in New York, high school days, UConn, Coach Calhoun, Emeka Okafor, Title run, Draft night, that incredible Bulls Celtics series, Ray Allen, business of the NBA, his Players Tribune Article, life after hoops and MUCH more!

We can’t thank Ben Gordon enough for taking the time to hang out and share his memories from his outstanding career. He has always been a student of the game and we learned some great, valuable things from him that our listeners will love. Be sure to tune in. You do NOT want to miss this one! We are forever grateful for the opportunity.

    Thank you Ben Gordon!

    Bernard Robinson: Former NBA Player

    Bernard Robinson: Former NBA Player

Bernard Robinson is in the house! We are honored to learn from another DC area great and one of our favorites to wear a Michigan jersey. We love trying to help the young hoopers coming up on this podcast and Bernard shares great stories and knowledge in this one.

Robinson grew up taking basketball very serious at a young age.  The 6'6'' left hander starred at Michigan before being selected 45th overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 NBA Draft. He told us all about growing up in DC, ABCD Camp, Michigan, his journey to the NBA, playing for an expansion team, James "Flight" White, DerMarr Johnson, Kevin Martin, hilarious Michael Jordan & Adam Morrison story, Gerald Wallace, Brevin Knight, wild experiences overseas, his management firm, and MUCH more.

We loved our time with B-Rob and can't thank him enough for taking the time to hang out and talk hoops with us. Truly one of the nicest and realist guests that we have had on this show and ranks as one of our favorites. What he is doing for retired athletes, as well as giving back to the youth and the game is bigtime and we have so much respect for him.

    Thanks Bernard Robinson!

Patrick Ewing Jr: Former Georgetown & NBA Player

Patrick Ewing Jr: Former Georgetown & NBA Player

Our local listeners will be hyped for this one, remembering his days rocking the rims with the Reno Bighorns. Patrick Ewing Jr.  joins us and takes us back to share his hoops story. We of course know all about his pops, but we absolutely loved learning about the grind, selflessness, and sacrifices Ewing Jr. made for the better of the team. There is no doubt he earned everything he got.

Ranked one of the top players in the country, he chose Indiana to make a name for himself before transferring over to Georgetown University where he earned the very first Big East 6th Man of the Year Award. His sacrifices helped a talented Hoyas team (featuring Roy Hibbert, Jeff Green, Vernon Macklin, and DaJuan Summers) to a Final 4 appearance. He was later selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 43rd overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and went on to have a successful career in the NBA, D-League, and Overseas before ending up on the sidelines as a coach.

This was a special one for us and we know that our local listeners will second that. We always loved Patrick Ewing Jr. but we have a whole different level of respect for him after hearing his story. We know you will too.

    Thank you Patrick Ewing Jr!
