Why we must honor Vietnam Veterans while we have the chance with Medal of Honor Recipient Leroy Petry

Why we must honor Vietnam Veterans while we have the chance with Medal of Honor Recipient Leroy Petry

It is Thanksgiving and one thing we are thankful for is all of the incredible people we met so far this year.

That includes Medal Of Honor recipient Leroy Petry.

Of the 40 million people who have served in the United States Military only 3,517 have received the Medal of Honor.

    Only 66 are still living.

Back in September I had the opportunity to talk to one of those 66 living recipients, retired Army Master Sgt. Leroy Petry.

Tomorrow Town host Josh Roe talked to Leroy Petry about many topics including the need to honor and learn from our Vietnam Veterans while we still can.

A Veterans Day conversation with Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly

    Saturday is Veterans Day.

This year in Chattanooga there have been several important veteran related stories.

Signal Mountain's Larry Taylor received the Medal of Honor. Taylor is the first Medal of Honor recipient from Southeast Tennessee since the 1950's.

Also, Chattanooga and Hamilton County are working on a project to house homeless veterans.

I talked to Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly about these stories and much more.

Medal of Honor recipient Larry Taylor tells incredible stories like the one about Dolly Parton singing with his band in college

On Tuesday, September 5th, Vietnam Veteran Larry Taylor will receive the Medal of Honor at a ceremony in Washington D.C.

On a previous episode of this podcast we told the story of the combat action that happened on June 18th where Larry Taylor saved the lives of 4 soldiers in Vietnam.

55 years after that combat action Taylor will be awarded the highest honor a member of the military can receive for valor in combat.

You may hear the story of that combat action again in the future, but it's also important to understand that night in Vietnam is just one of the many incredible stories from Larry Taylor's 81 years on this planet.

On this episode of Tomorrow Town, Tennessee Larry Taylor tells more of those fascinating stories.
