Bob Schieffer interview with Poynter MediaWire

Bob Schieffer interview with Poynter MediaWire
After a lifetime at CBS News, it probably takes a lot to rattle Bob Schieffer. He’s the steady, mature hand at the network, guiding its political showcase, “Face The Nation,” every Sunday morning. But, as you’ll hear, the anchorman couldn’t help but get a little giddy over the announcement that his show is growing from 30 to 60 minutes. Bob Andelman talked to Schieffer for Poynter Online and MediaWire about his show’s rise in the ratings and its long-awaited reward. You can read more about this story and other breaking journalism news on MediaWire, only at www.Poynter.org.

America's Toughest Sheriff, Maricopa County's Joe Arpaio, Plus Occupy Wall Street

America's Toughest Sheriff, Maricopa County's Joe Arpaio, Plus Occupy Wall Street
Filthy, clueless 1960’s throwbacks, and their wannabe kids and grandkids, infest Wall Street and other cities to the delight of a cheerleading (LSM) Lame Stream Media. No surprise there, since the baby boomers who currently run these last-century purveyors of liberal propaganda ache with nostalgia for the days when they didn’t depend on Viagra, and even, in some cases, Depends. They are desperately trying to provide the silly protestors with a coherent script. Union activists and their democrat allies see a political opportunity in these morons. Barack Obama, ever with his bony finger on the pulse, sees Middle America. Occupy DC agitator admits paying Hispanic “protestors,” who can’t read the signs they are holding because they are in English. Few people know that, before he was elected in 1992, our special guest, “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County had a successful career as federal narcotics agent. During that time, he figured prominently in an extremely high-profile drug case that became the subject of the first R-rated movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. What was the name of the film? Listen and find out. Also, why didn’t he participate in last Friday’s Phoenix news conference demanding the firing or resignation of Eric Holder. Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich school CBS’ Bob Schieffer. Nancy Pelosi repeats lie about those “terrorist” “hostage takers,” the Tea Party. Unintentionally hilarious, but also creepy, mass call-and-response chanting at the Occupy Atlanta rally, where the zombified crowd may have done Cong. John Lewis a favor by not letting him speak.

VOTE in the The Celtic Top Five
    – Thanks to everyone who voted for the Brobdingnagian Bards in the Austin Music Awards. We won in the Best None of the Above Band category, which I guess adequately describes us. I also came in second for Best Strings. Unfortunately, the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast did not place at all. So either, we didn't get enough votes or the Music Awards are not yet ready to accept podcasts as comparable radio shows. Either way, no win. But dang it, I'm gonna try again next year!
