The Lies of I’s—Turn “I Deserve” into “How to Serve”

The Lies of I’s—Turn “I Deserve” into “How to Serve”

How often do you hear yourself saying “I”? I want. I need. I wish. We have these “Lies of I’s” – lies we tell ourselves that culture tells us are a truth. My husband I were having a discussion the other day and I heard myself saying, “I deserve.” That’s a phrase I don’t even let my kids use, and here I was disagreeing with Corey saying, “I deserve better.” We seem to live in a world and society that is full of entitlement. We have the participation trophy generation that was always told they couldn’t lose and the social media natives that are constantly comparing people’s perfectly curated lives to their own. How do we teach our kids to overcome this attitude and that life isn’t always fair? Listen to the latest episode of the #FearlessPodcast where I look at the root of the problem and 4 ways we can have conversations with our children about serving and not deserving.

Already Feeling Behind? 5 Thoughts That Will Encourage You

Already Feeling Behind? 5 Thoughts That Will Encourage You

2024 just kicked off a few days ago, but I already feel behind. Maybe you feel that way, too. Sometimes setting goals and making plans at the beginning of the year can seem overwhelming. Personally, looking at big-picture, long-term missions help me stay focused on what’s truly important. So today, I'm sharing five prayers God has put on my heart to focus on with my husband and kids. I hope you'll find encouragement to take this year at your own pace and depend on the One who is in control of all of our days.

Don’t Rush Through Christmas—4 Lessons to Help Refocus

Don’t Rush Through Christmas—4 Lessons to Help Refocus

The Christmas season is a time full of never ending to-do lists. It’s so busy, that we often rush from one thing to the next without taking in the importance of Christmas. But, I don't want to rush by the Christmas season. I love the traditions. I love the excitement I don't want that sense of panic that we got to get it all done.

This time of year, my thoughts often go to Mary, Jesus’s mother. Can you imagine what she must have been going through before Jesus’ birth? And yet, she knew the faithfulness of God and her response was to praise Him. I believe that we can learn from her response four earthly lessons that reflect our eternal disciplines – she submitted, she served, she suffered, and she sang.

If we take a look at Mary and use her example to frame our busyness, we too can magnify God through our songs of praise all year long.

This year, don’t rush by the Nativity; don’t rush by Mary; and don’t rush by Jesus. Instead, take time to reflect on the gifts we have and enjoy this Christmastime.

When the World is Watching, Do You Bite Your Tongue or Use Your Words to Burn it Down?

When the World is Watching, Do You Bite Your Tongue or Use Your Words to Burn it Down?

This summer I saw my kids struggle to control their tongues; they were frustrated with each other and their tone with each other was just ugly. And I know they learned it from me. I realize we don’t always get it right – I know this true for me and there have been many times where I’ve had to bite my tongue when I get frustrated, offended, or when others are rude.

With everything that has happened since 2020, it seems that people are quick to be more angry, more upset, and more sensitive. It can be shocking when you hear the language and hate that some people spew. So, how should we react when we hear hateful, crude, and offensive language and words from others? I’ve recently been working on this in my own home with my kids and husband and I encourage you to listen to this episode of the #FearlessPodcast to hear more about why this is important.

Is War in Our Future? What’s Happening on the World Stage and Should Parents be Concerned

Is War in Our Future? What’s Happening on the World Stage and Should Parents be Concerned

The world seems to be in a state of chaos and rapidly changing. As a parent, I haven’t been able to keep the images of the attacks on Israel out of my mind. When we see the turmoil happening in Israel, Ukraine, and right here in America, it’s easy to get caught up in worry about the future. What do Americans need to know about these crises and how do we talk to our kids about war? What’s the cost of preserving our future? These are questions my brother, Edward, a 16-year military combat veteran and COO of Samaritan’s Purse, is joining me to discuss on the #FearlessPodcast.

“Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul; the other for your freedom.”

War in The Holy Land: Hard Questions, Simple Answers

War in The Holy Land: Hard Questions, Simple Answers

What’s going on in the Middle East is complicated. Why is it important? What’s the history? Why do we need to stand with Israel?

It’s critical to everyone to know what’s happening and how it impacts us. Once we understand God’s plan for Israel, the major events taking place now start to make sense and we can see how religious culture, politics, and Biblical history all align.

Pastor Skip Heitzig joins the #FearlessPodcast to explain this in a simple way that we can all understand.

War in Israel: Why is This Important and How do We Respond?

War in Israel: Why is This Important and How do We Respond?

Israel’s 9/11 happened this weekend and they are at war. The photos and videos are horrific, and it has been an emotional few days reading the stories coming out of Israel. This attack against Israel is the most deadly since the Holocaust. Pastor Gary Hamrick from Cornerstone Chapel in Virginia is joining me today to discuss some questions many have been asking: is Biblical prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes; why does antisemitism continue to rise; how do we respond; and, much more.

Episode 41: Reclaiming Truth - A Conversation with Skillet’s John Cooper

Episode 41: Reclaiming Truth - A Conversation with Skillet’s John Cooper
Not only has culture lost sight of what truth is, many churches and pastors have even abandoned Biblical truth.

John Cooper is the front man for the multi-platinum band Skillet, author of “Awake and Alive to Truth,” and host of the podcast, “Cooper Stuff.” Biblical truth and a commitment to the Gospel is the common thread in everything John does.

In this episode John and I talk about not seeking the approval of the world and the importance of knowing the word of God.

Episode 38: Facing 2021 With Confidence and Hope

Episode 38: Facing 2021 With Confidence and Hope

The demonstrations in Washington, D.C. on January 6th were a stark reminder that 2021 may not provide the relief from 2020 many of us were hoping for. But they’re also a reminder of the importance of placing our faith in God this new year.

In this first episode of 2021 I want to encourage you to be prepared for whatever 2021 holds. We cannot grow weary. As Daniel 11:32 tells us, those who know their God will be able to stand in strength and take action.

Episode 37: Do Not Be Afraid – A Christmas Message

Episode 37: Do Not Be Afraid – A Christmas Message

    Show Notes

Christmas is just a few days away. One tradition that I started last year with my family is a photo album – with real printed photos – of the past year. As I was looking back at the photos from 2020, I felt grateful for more time spent with my family. I know not many people will look back at 2020 the same way. But I am reminded this Christmas week, that if we know God’s Word and have confidence in it, we can be assured that the Lord is with us. Mary’s story tells us this exact same message: Nothing is impossible with God.

Episode 35: A Glimpse Inside the Life of My Favorite Veteran – An Interview with My Brother, Edward Graham

Episode 35: A Glimpse Inside the Life of My Favorite Veteran – An Interview with My Brother, Edward Graham

    Show Notes

November 11 is Veterans Day, a special day to remember and honor all of those who have served in our military. In light of this day, I sat down with a very special guest, my brother Edward Graham, who is a veteran himself.

Edward graduated from the United States Military Academy, also known as West Point, in 2003, just two years after 9/11. He served in eight combat deployments within special operations forces, and recently left his beloved military career to serve alongside my dad, Franklin Graham, at Samaritan’s Purse.

In this episode of Fearless, we talk about what Veterans Day means for those who served in the military, how Edward’s faith in Jesus Christ affected his mission, and ways that he and his fellow veterans can continue to serve the United States with the skills they’ve been given by God. Today, and every day, we are so thankful for our veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made for our country.

Episode 34: Win or Lose, Trusting God with the Election Results

Episode 34: Win or Lose, Trusting God with the Election Results

    Show Notes

The 2020 elections have been said to be one of the most pivotal elections of our lifetime. Many experts have even said that it is the most critical since the election of Abraham Lincoln. As I was sitting in my quiet house on the eve of Election Day, I was wondering what my message would be when we found out the results. I was reminded of 2 Chronicles 20, when Jehoshaphat turned to God – this battle is not ours, it belongs to God. No matter who wins or loses, my message, my job, and my passions will remain the same. This year hasn’t taken God by surprise. The next days and weeks might be shocking to us, yet no matter the results the sun will still rise and God will still sit on His Throne.

Episode 33: 2 Parties, 2 Visions for America – Who Will Govern You?

Episode 33: 2 Parties, 2 Visions for America – Who Will Govern You?

    Show Notes

I’ve always been passionate about religion and politics, but I know that not everyone my age, especially Christian millennials, shares the same sentiments towards this topic. Someone even once told me that he didn’t believe Christians should have roles in politics.

In this episode I want to encourage you not to look at the word ‘politics,’ but let’s look at it as ‘governance’ and who will govern over you. Right now, we have two political parties fighting over how they will govern us.

40 million evangelicals did not vote in 2016, and many said it’s because they did not love either candidate. As I hear that again this year, I want to remind you that love has never been the standard regarding who we vote for. The standard is the policies that a candidate represents and their ability to lead this country.

Whether or not you love a certain candidate, as Christians and as Americans, we have been given the opportunity to vote in order to protect our families, our neighbors, and our freedoms. With the 2020 election just around the corner, this episode of the #FearlessPodcast addresses some things I want to encourage you to think about as you prepare to head to the polls.

    Social Media

Many people are weary of the political climate as we near the 2020 election, and like 2016 when 40 million evangelicals didn’t vote, I hear the same conversations happening today.

Episode 31: Indoctrination through Education | Will We Fight for Our Kids?

    Show Notes
As Christian parents, it’s important that we know what our school system is teaching our children. I believe that we are in a battle, a spiritual war, for our children’s hearts, minds, and souls in this country. We need to be prepared to stand up for our children and speak biblical truth into their lives. Will we sit back and allow the secular left to win our children over, or are we going to fight for them?

On today’s episode of Fearless, I’ve invited my friend Todd Chasteen, Vice President of Public Policy and Corporate Counsel at Samaritan's Purse, to discuss these educational issues and help encourage you in truth as you advocate for your children.

Episode 30: Back to School | Making Decisions in a Chaotic Time

Each year the new school season brings a certain chaos, and this year is no different. There’s been a lot of debate over schooling methods, and many people asked about what my husband and I decided to do with our children this fall regarding the new school year and their education. Today’s podcast episode is all about navigating this chaotic back to school season. Whether you’ve chosen homeschooling, online/virtual learning, in-person classes or a hybrid of the options, I encourage you to trust God in the process and bring your concerns to Him.
