    Stephanie de Sykes: Singer, Songwriter and the best thing about Bertha!

    Welcome to this special episode of Yesterday's Capers. Presenter Abdullah Moallim interviews Singer, Songwriter Stephanie de Sykes. 

    Stephanie de Sykes began her career as a session singer, often releasing tracks under other names. In 1972, one of her early releases was "The World's A Clockwork Orange" on the Polydor label, credited as 'Verity'. She had her first hit in 1974 with the Roger Holman penned "Born With a Smile on My Face" which reached Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart.

    She also co-wrote two UK Eurovision Song Contest entries, Co-Co's "The Bad Old Days" and Prima Donna's "Love Enough for Two" in 1978 and 1980 respectively.

    Stephanie tells us how she got started in the music industry and how she managed to navigate her way through. 

    Stephanie also had a huge role in the 80s stop-motion animation classic 'Bertha' and we talk all about how Stephanie got involved with all of that. We also talked about the songs she sung on the show, such as "Mrs Tupp," "Tracy's Robot Song," and "Isn't It Nice."
