Matan Levkowich on Contact Improvisation and discovering new approaches to dance, creativity, ambition, confrontation & collaboration

Dancer/Choreographer Daniel Burkholder shares his experience with leading and especially following through the improvisational forms of Contact Improvisation and Feldenkrais Method.

Daniel choreographs, improvises, performs, teaches dance and the Feldenkrais Method, and practices mindfulness. His choreographic/improvisational work spans theatrical performances, site-specific events, immersive media, and screendance, and has been presented at numerous venues throughout North America and internationally. His current work includes: “On-Site”, a series of embodied screendance experiments; “Embodied Truth: finding ways to move together”, a collaboration with Kimani Fowlin examining race and gender through the lens of parenting; and, “act/re/act”, a podcast exploring improvisation through conversations with remarkable artists.  His work has been commissioned by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, James Madison University, and Goucher College, among others. Daniel is currently an Associate Professor of Dance at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and the director of the MFA in Dance program.

Maria Richle, geb. 1972 in Innsbruck und aufgewachsen in Absam bei Hall/Tirol. Studium Grafik-Design und Experimentelle Visuelle Gestaltung an der Kunstuniversität Linz. Erste Berührungen mit Flamenco und Contact Improvisation während des Studiums, einjähriger Aufenthalt in Barcelona, nach dem Diplomabschluss Produktionsassistenz & -leitung beim Kunst- und Kulturfestival der Regionen OÖ, Ausbildung zur Meditationstherapeutin und Nuad Thai Masseurin, jahrelange Erfahrung in Körper- und Energiearbeit, Tantra, Integrale Therapie. Seit 2007 Tango Argentino, leidenschaftliche Tangotrainerin, Organisatorin von freien TangotanzAbenden vierteljährlich und frei.tanz!Events monatlich im Kremstal. Die spielerische Selbsterforschung der authentischen Bewegung interessiert mich, die Präsenz damit. Im Tanz BeobachterIn eigener Gefühle & Gedanken zu werden ohne Identifikation damit um schlussendlich in den inneren Raum der Stille zu gleiten und vom Sein aus, der Quelle, den Körper sprechen zu lassen.

Günter Touschek, geb. 1962 in Linz, Vater von zwei Söhnen, Musiker, Sänger in unterschiedlichen Genres, Tänzer, Impro-Theater-Spieler, Fotograf, LinzErschweben-Guide. Co-Leitung in den Bereichen Contact Improvisation, Alexandertechnik und Tantra in Österreich, Tschechien und Spanien; Zusammenarbeit mit Zita Pavlištová, Ulrike Prochazka, Brigitte Raninger und Sabine Sonnenschein. Veranstaltung von Singabenden, Tanzevents und Workshops zum Thema Stimme und Ausdruck. Viele Jahre Erfahrung mit Contact Improvisation und Musik auf CI Jams. Seine Musik, sein Repertoire entstehen im Hier und Jetzt, als Impuls dient „alles, was da ist“. Er gestaltet KlangRäume, vertont, was er aufnimmt und unterstützt, was entstehen will. Seine Instrumente wie Gitarren, Ukulele, Monochord, Zither, Shruti Box, viele Klangobjekte, Percussionsinstrumente verfeinert er mit etwas Elektronik wie z.B. Loop, Delay, Reverb, gerade so viel, dass immer der natürliche Klang der Instrumente erhalten bleibt.
