Better Money Thoughts (TBYB Sneak Peak Ch 8)

In this bonus episode (and sneak peek of my new book!) we unwrap the often-unspoken complexities surrounding women and money. We'll take a deeper look at my own money story, the societal illusion that money is a domain reserved for men, the stigmatization of desire for wealth and a few thoughts to consider instead!

This episode isn't just about reforming your money thoughts; it's a call to action for all women to seize control of their financial narratives, challenge the status quo, and redefine what it means to be successful, wealthy, and most importantly, at peace with money.

Overcome Your Hidden Addiction To Achievement
his week I’m going to talk to you about an addiction you’ve probably not spent much time thinking about… ACHIEVEMENT ADDICTION. If you’re like me, you WANT to achieve SUCCESS. And that’s a beautiful thing! Now let me guide you on how to ENJOY THE RIDE as we take the road less traveled. Live Life in Crescendo

    Live Life in Crescendo

You’ve heard of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. But did you know that its author, Stephen Covey, was in his late fifties when it came out? After it became a monumental bestseller, Covey continued to work on new book ideas, one of which encapsulated his own experience with late-in-life success and his commitment to having an ever-forward-looking attitude.

A decade after his death, that book has finally been brought to fruition by Stephen’s daughter, Cynthia Covey Haller. It’s called Live Life in Crescendo: Your Most Important Work Is Always Ahead of You, and its contents really represent the capstone habit to those that came before.

Today on the show, Cynthia unpacks the crescendo mentality and how it represents a commitment to continual learning, growth, and change that you can adopt at any age. We discuss how embracing the crescendo mentality is particularly important in midlife, why that stage of life can be uniquely challenging whether you’ve achieved success or are struggling, and the shifts people in each of those situations can make to find greater fulfillment.

What is The Universal Definition of Success? [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

What is The Universal Definition of Success? [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Whilst every person may have their own unique definition of personal success, it is always beneficial to discuss a universal qualifier of what success really is. Join Rob today as he discusses the definition of success. Discover how creating value in areas most important to you can be defined as successful, how transient measures of success can send you on a never-ending quest for success and why for something to be deemed as a success it must be both selfish and selfless.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • It is wise to discuss a universal qualifier of success so that we can pursue more of the things that are important to us and make the biggest difference. As we go through life our qualifier of success becomes personal. These may be meeting satisfaction, getting results, financial or accolades. The problem with these quantifiers is that they are transient and often many of them are selfish.

    • For something to be successful, it has to be selfless as well as selfish. Success is nothing to do with your accolades, money or rewards. Success needs to balance the selfish and selfless.  If your definition includes material items such as money, cars or watches, then there is always going to be someone with more of those than you.

    • Success is you creating value in your unique area. Being valuable in the area that is of greatest importance to you can be defined as being a success. If you compare yourself to someone else’s success, you cannot be a success. That is their life, not yours. That is their values and vision, not yours.

    • The deeper sense of happiness and fulfilment is directly linked to how many people you help and how much you help them. The great thing about having a global vision is you are always helping more people, therefore you are always able to add to your sense of satisfaction and value.

    • Entrepreneurs can go through stages where their success is defined by how much money they have, how many material items they own and how large their business is. You will eventually realise that there is no end to that. Therefore that chase can make you feel unworthy or empty.

    BEST MOMENTS

“If your goal for success is happiness, that is selfish.”

“Something that is absolutely not the definition of success, is comparing yourself to others.”

“The only thing on the planet that you are the best at, is being you.”

“Do you go back and hat tip to yourself? Credit yourself for all those things that you have achieved along the journey? If you do, you are okay on that journey of ever-increasing targets.”
