E237: Jeanell Greene - The importance of a "Marriage Mindset"

E237: Jeanell Greene - The importance of a "Marriage Mindset"

    In Jeanell's own words:

I am a passionate, no BS Relationship coach and speaker who loves to get deep, vulnerable, and intimate conversations. I am a Certified Life and Relationship coach and work with both couples and individuals to find more power, freedom, and joy in life, especially within fam I love talking love and forgiveness as my parents separated when my dad cheated on my mom and had a child and left us. With faith, my dad returned home and my mom forgave, but I later discovered there was still trauma I had to deal with. My life took a huge turn when I was going through divorce as a filipino/catholic, which was what led me to doing the inner work to heal myself. I love sharing how I was able to get responsible for my own behaviour and release my ex-husband with no malice or trauma and as a result, only spent $80 for our divorce papers. I got my calling when I turned 40. I left my Job in Corporate Sales being top of the pack making $130k to pursue my passion of helping people heal and now creating the relationship and vocation of my dreams. I love talking about mindset, integrity, breaking the rules, entrepreneurship rollercoaster, forgiveness, fear, love, infidelity, family, the importance of having goals and knowing your core values and your purpose in this lifetime. I also love talking about the crazy stories of my life like: when I met the Queen of England, almost got arrested, and landed on the front page of a newspaper when I was 6 years old, and how that 6-year-old is who I want to be when I grow up.

    If:

    • you feel like there’s not much chance for growth in your marriage,
    • your spouse is resistant to working on your relationship with you,
    • you feel unmotivated to put much more effort in because it feels a bit hopeless,
    • or you just aren't sure it’s worth it to try too much with your spouse with everything you have on your plate and how little difference it seems to make

….I’m here to give you hope that the mutually supportive, deeply connected and loving marriage you want IS POSSIBLE.

Because the reason you are discouraged isn't just because of your significant other or the dynamics between you.

It’s because of something much more sneaky and less obvious: some very toxic cultural messaging that TRULY undermines the relationships we want in our hearts.

In this episode, I will expose 3 of these toxic myths most likely playin gout in you and your relationship,  and help you do away with them so you feel empowered and hopeful again, and so you are best set up to finally get some real traction on making your marriage the lighthearted, deeply loving, and team-feel one you want.

Get ready to finally see the changes you want when you no longer buy into these 3 toxic myths and instead understand the 3 truths about making true lasting change in your marriage.

And if you have a partner who’s not doing much to make your marriage better, make sure to listen all the way through this one, as the golden key to change that comes toward the end.

Leaving Your Marriage Without Leaving Is Self Betrayal

So many of you have left your marriage, given up on the dream you once believed was possible with the one you're with, but you haven't moved on.

Reviving Love: My Marriage Revival Mini-Story

Reviving Love: My Marriage Revival Mini-Story

With traumatic events, I find myself going within and taking time to reflect, which I have been doing plenty of lately.

Sharing my story has been on the agenda for a while. Still, I like to let things fall into place naturally, so that is up this week on AwakenYou in your marriage, my marriage mini-revival story.

Richard Bach says it best, "We teach best what we most need to learn," and it is no secret that this is why helping others lead their marriage to a love revival intrigues me and lights me up so much.

As I learn and help others achieve their relationship dreams, I keep doing that same work in my marriage, and I have BIG plans for Jeff and me 😁

In this episode, I share a bit about my growth journey and how discontent in my marriage had me shifting into high gear towards self-discovery and my healing journey, which launched a love revival with the one I'm with!

I believe my story will resonate with many of you who are going through difficulties in your relationships, and I'm excited to share it. I hope that my experience can offer hope, inspiration, and practical advice to any of you seeking guidance in navigating your marital challenges.

Relationship Coach & Teacher Jillian Turecki on Revolutionizing Our Relationship with Ourself - Encore Presentation

Relationship Coach & Teacher Jillian Turecki on Revolutionizing Our Relationship with Ourself - Encore Presentation

Encore presentation of our #1 downloaded episode of all time!!!

In this episode, Relationship Coach and Teacher, Jillian Turecki and I talk all things relationships.  We start off with Jillian sharing a little about her childhood and what led up to her finding her passion in the world of relationships.  Jillian shares some hardships she went through during her "dark night of the soul," from the breakup of her marriage to her mother's diagnosis with stage 4 lung cancer.

We chatted about the "unshakeable courage" it takes to face our fears and learn the relationship and communication skills none of us were taught in school.  We talked about the importance of changing the way we see ourselves, the importance of authenticity, the unlearning that must be done, learning how to "feel enough," and actually "make ourselves happy."

But most importantly, we chatted about the importance of working on ourselves.  As Jillian says, “Every relationship that I’ve ever had, had one thing in common, and that was me.”  Hence we need to stop saying "it's all them."

Jillian also shared her thoughts on marriage counseling, why that often fails, and why she prefers to work with individuals, as opposed to couples.

Other topics included Jillian's thoughts on dating apps, love verses compatibility, how to keep romance and sex alive in a long-term relationship, twin flames, soul mates and so much more!

Jillian Turecki is a certified relationship coach, teacher and writer who for 20 years has taught others how to transform their relationships with themselves.

Under the tutelage of Tony Robbins and world renowned family therapist Cloe Madanes, Jillian is certified by the Robbins Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention, a renowned coaching program known for its innovative strategic solutions to the most difficult relationship problems. Fueled by an insatiable curiosity about what makes a relationship thrive, Jillian has helped thousands through her teaching and writing revolutionize their relationship with themselves so that they transform their relationships with others. Jillian is sought out for her compassionate, direct, and very authentic style of coaching and teaching.”

    Why He Withdraws

    Why He Withdraws

"Why He Withdraws" is a follow-up to the last Figs & Teale episode, "Pursuer Problems," and it's Figs' turn for an "affect assembly" with Teale's help.

After just a bit of stalling, Figs describes a recent negative judgment of Teale after she didn't text him when she was out with her friends like he asked her to and then went out paddling the next morning before he woke up.

He describes these judgments as "inconsiderate," and then—hinting at the deeper vulnerability—"hypocritical" and "unreasonable."

Figs, in feeling not considered by Teale (a more classically Pursuer sensitivity) actually started to access all the times he felt judged as the inconsiderate one (his deeper Withdrawer "not enough" sensitivity).

He then, in touch with those feelings of not being good enough, tried to be "good" by not outwardly expressing those negative judgments of Teale—which Figs now knows was not actually the "right" thing to do.

While walking through Figs' negative judgments and feeling not good enough, Teale demonstrates her acceptance and love of Figs—which is hard for Figs, who is struggling to let it in, and who feels like it's unacceptable not to be able to.

In voicing that, however, Figs can see that Teale is also able to hold that "unacceptable" part of Figs, and he is able to experience relief and connection.

One Crucial Element To Good Marital Communication

One Crucial Element To Good Marital Communication

Try explaining something you don't understand; you can't do it without laughing or wanting to cry.

    Let me explain.

You're in a funk, but you're not sure why; I mean, life is going really well right now; you should be partying like it's 1999!

You can't explain it to your spouse, so you withdraw, which could be understood through their lenses as you're mad at them for doing something wrong.

Nothing gets resolved, and you continue to distance yourselves to avoid feeling awful.

This is not good communication, but it's what happens in the lives of many couples.

What do you do about this problem? Learning to communicate well is a start, but you need to start practicing something else before communicating well.

First, I want to tell you to relax. This is going to feel so much better than trying to explain the unexplainable to your spouse!

This crucial step starts with you, like most things we do here in AwakenYou in your marriage, so tune into this week's episode, which is all about the One Crucial Element To Good Marital Communication.
