In recent years, the importance of mental health has gained significant recognition, and societies worldwide are taking steps to address the growing need for mental health support. One significant development in this regard is the establishment of the 988 crisis line, which is poised to become a crucial lifeline for individuals facing mental health crises in the United States. The 988 crisis line is a three-digit phone number designated for individuals in need of immediate mental health assistance, akin to the well-known 911 emergency line for physical emergencies. This landmark development was signed into law in October 2020 as part of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, recognizing the critical need for accessible mental health care in the country. The significance of the 988 crisis line lies in its potential to streamline access to mental health services, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and ultimately save lives. Mental health crises can manifest in various ways, from severe depression and anxiety to suicidal ideation, and having a dedicated crisis line can make all the difference in providing timely intervention and support. One of the key advantages of the 988 crisis line is its simplicity and ease of use. The three-digit number is easy to remember, making it more likely that individuals in distress will reach out for help. This accessibility is especially crucial for young people and those who may be hesitant to seek help through traditional channels due to fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Additionally, the 988 crisis line aims to provide a continuum of care by connecting callers to local crisis centers and mental health professionals. This ensures that individuals in crisis receive appropriate assistance tailored to their specific needs.

Episode 34 is vibrant: Our Side A features, Kendrick Lamar, one of the most talented and poetic hip hop MC’s of the past decade taking inspiration from one of Filler’s favorite jazz guitarists Grant Greene.  Our Side B has our volume set to 11 as we discuss Metallica and their latest album, Blacklist, which features a ridiculous number of covers. This episode also brings back our “Call in Listener” segment as Johnny Night Train, from the band Jet Ransom, gives us a call to wax poetic about Cliff Burton, the original bassist from Metallica.

Nate and Mitch are Having Audio Issues

Nate and Mitch are Having Audio Issues

    Episode 23! It's free!

The audio quality on today's episode might not be up to Joe Rogan's standards, but that's not what our podcast is about. It's two friends (Nate and Mitch) who talk and have a good time. We hope you have a good time with us!

On today's episode, Nate gets tested for COVID. Thankfully the results are positively negative. Mitch shows Nate an unusual video of an Imagine Dragons cover. Mitch watched 3 ninjas and took a few notes. What are the boy scouts and where the heck did they come from? Are they just a precursor to ROTC then the army? No one knows. Nate has a few sleep talking stories he has no recollection of. Concerned questions of, "how's the orgy community doing in the pandemic," are discussed. Do they use zoom? We hope they're ok. Mitch talks about his wrestling name and maybe a few finishing moves he would have. We reminisce about watching West Coast Choppers as children and end up talking about porn for the blind.

We hope you enjoy today's episode, as bad as the quality might be, it's really the thought that counts, right? We love you. Peace.

(Ghost) Riders in the Sky from Start to Finish

In this episode we take a look at the history of one of the most widely post WWII "Covered" popular songs in the ASCAP database.

From its humble beginnings as a European folk song to its re-appearance during the American Civil War as a melody for a drinking song, to its eventual use as the basis for a song about a cautionary tale warning a cowboy that if he doesn't change his ways, he will one day join the damned cowboys doomed to try to “catch the Devil”s herd across these endless skies.
