Inside the Cockpit 30: Its Still Real to Me

Inside the Cockpit 30: Its Still Real to Me

Once again we are opening the cockpit back up and letting you join us for our monthly interstitial conversation. This time around we deep dive into a pair of concepts. Genres and kayfabe. Come along as we discuss the idea of separating movies, music, games and everything else into smaller categories based on only a handful of categories and when we exhaust the well of what use genres are we turn to the subject of kayfabe, an idea that is mostly rooted in wrestling but in many ways has wormed it's way all through the internet. We also vaguely discuss the interaction between fans and the creation of art but that's more a segue than an actual topic. All of this and more this month inside the cockpit!

In 1896, the very first auto race on an oval track took place at the Rhode Island State Fair, just one year after the first city-to-city auto race in the world took place. Cars were so new, no one knew what to call them. Horseless wagons? Motor wagons? Motocycles? Electric Traps?

    DRIVE

    DRIVE

This week, Aya and Kevin go in on perhaps the pinnacle of 2010s Bro Cinema, Nicholas Winding Refn's DRIVE. It's a knock-down, drag-out fight, and no punches are spared on this hollowed out pastiche film that hasn't managed to age particularly gracefully.

18 - Rhode Island - Louis James DeFusco & Mercy Brown

18 - Rhode Island - Louis James DeFusco & Mercy Brown

Dani starts this week with the story of Louis James DeFusco.  Mr. DeFusco's body was found over 40 years ago and was initially listed as a homicide, until a second autopsy found a bullet hole in the back of his head. How did they miss that??

Drew ends the episode with the tragic story of Mercy Brown.  Ms. Brown died from tuberculosis, along with the majority of her family, only she was accused of being a vampire and feeding off her dying brother.  Ignorance and folk tales abound.

Additional minor topics: Witches on Tinder, Dani gets upset, shameless plugs, and much more.

4 Guys And A Movie Episode 27 The Shadow

4 Guys And A Movie Episode 27 The Shadow
Lamont Cranston is The Shadow, a billionaire playboy by day, vigilante of justice by night! No... Wait.. OK, so he's like, batman before batman was batman. Except his music is batman. And his villain is kinda stupid. Y'know?... Just go watch batman. Any of them. Yeah, even that one. Nothing to see here, except indentured servitude, and strange powers that mean nothing and go nowhere. Oh, and a series of tubes. Email us at the4ampodcast@gmail.com Www.facebook.com/4amPodcast
