    #5005 Tupac Shakur

    #5005 Tupac Shakur

In the latest episode of "Faith Over Breakfast," Pastor Eric and Pastor Andy reconvene with warmth and earnestness, inviting listeners to join their table for a conversation that is as unexpected as it is enlightening. The pastors open with a reflection on the life and music of Tupac Shakur, exploring the intersection of faith, culture, and the search for meaning. As they navigate through this dialogue, they introduce the concept of a hermeneutic of story—a way of engaging with the Bible that embraces narrative and context as keys to understanding Scripture.

Contrasting this with a more traditional exegetical approach, they offer a thoughtful examination of how different interpretive frameworks can shape our reading of the Bible and our lived experiences. The heart of the discussion delves into the human longing to be acknowledged and to make a difference in the world. Pastor Eric and Pastor Andy thoughtfully consider how this desire can propel us toward both creative and destructive ends, urging listeners to seek a path that aligns with the redemptive work of Christ. It's a session that promises to challenge, inspire, and perhaps even redefine one’s understanding of impact and visibility through the lens of faith.

Gender, Affect, and Politics – Episode 2: Literature, Social Media, and Affective Worldmaking

Gender, Affect, and Politics is a 3-Part Series by the Intimate Readings Research Group at the University of Graz. Die 1. Episode findet ihr hier.

In this episode, Si Sophie Pages Whybrew and Jana Aresin talk about the potentials and limitations of stories and narratives in literature and other media for making people empathize with characters, reflect on their worldviews and identities, and possibly imagine alternative worlds. Through the term “affective worldmaking,” they explore how narratives, emotions, and politics overlap, and ask the question what causes people to become politically active. They illustrate this using examples from various literary and cultural studies scholars who look at these questions in different time periods, from the late 19th century to today, and in different geopolitical contexts, from North and South America, over Southeastern Europe, to East Asia.
