"Be a Man" Feel Your Feelings and Sh*t

"Be a Man" Feel Your Feelings and Sh*t

Randy Duncan, from Des Moines east/south side, joins Shatai on this episode. He shares how he got the stage name Pezzy tha Pipeman "And no it isn't just a d*ck reference". Randy talks about his experience growing up, being raised by his aunt instead of either of his parents. He shares his experience with being the "cry baby" out of all his friends as a kid, but how he realized being a man means being able to show different emotions. What the heck is kick-soccer-baseball?! It's a midwest thing. Shatai and Randy discuss Covid-19, their opinions on wearing a mask, and Randy's theory that marijuana may or may not give him immunity. Being a father: one of his favorite roles and he wouldn't change a thing about it. Randy speaks for the first time about the loss of his best friend who was tragically   killed as a result of domestic violence. Grief doesn't always come right away, or at the time of the funeral, but in all of the daily reminders of that person. How does he cope with his grief? "I don't run from it. I don't try to act like nothing happened, and I try to remember her everyday."
French film "Cuties" has raised a lot of outrage here in the U.S. as it debuted on Netflix. SPOILER ALERT: Shatai dissects parts of this movie and discusses the realities of sexualization in young girls as well as pressure from social media to be "cuties". Listen to find out her opinion on the film. CANCEL CULTURE CAN BE TOXIC. How are we doing ourselves a disservice by forming strong opinions without knowing all of the facts? Does information overload contribute to anxiety?
IN A TOXIC SITUATION with a friend, significant other, or co-worker??? Send in your questions, entanglements, situations you need advice on and they'll be featured on the IGTV and Youtube series COMING SOON.

Unpregnant, The Social Dilemma, Cuties, #Alive, All In: The Fight For Democracy

The Cinemaholics are going on a road trip! Metaphorically, at least. Our first pit stop this week is an in-depth review of Unpregnant, a buddy road trip comedy streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Next, we travel all the way to the internet for The Social Dilemma, a new Netflix documentary about social media. After that, we head to France to discuss yet another Netflix film, Cuties, which has been caught in a maelstrom of controversy. Then we go on a detour out east for #Alive, a new South Korean zombie movie on (you guessed it) Netflix! Last, we head on home for an American documentary on Prime Video called All In: The Fight For Democracy.

Music in this episode: “thinking of you" by mommy.
