Today's Dakar Rally Daily covers the 2024 Dakar Rally Stage 7 and an incredibly tight overall race, down to ONE SECOND, between HRC Monster Energy Honda's Ricky Brabec and Hero Motorsports' Ross Branch. 

Brabec's Honda teammate Nacho Cornejo took the stage win  today, his third of the 2024 Dakar Rally,  Yesterday's show guests Kevin and Luciano Benevides took second and third, respectively on the day to make it a 1-2-3 for South America!

In today's show we go over Stage 7's results and dig into the incredibly tight overall race as we head into the second half of the race. We also check in with Johnny Campbell in the HRC Honda pits, Interview Ross Branch from the comfort of his rally motorhome and hear from last year's Malle Moto/Original by Motul class winner Charan Moore to see if that Malle Moto thing is really all it's cracked up to be.

2024 Dakar Rally Stage 6 Results and a Skyler Howes interview!

We've made it to rest day (technically tomorrow) at the 2024 Dakar Rally and the front-running general classification contenders are in a tight battle to control the front of the race.

HRC Monster Energy Honda's Adrien Van Beveren took the 48-Hour Chrono stage victory after two days and about 800km of racing to make himself a serious threat for overall victory. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Toby Price rode a great two days to second overall on the stage with Van Beveren's Honda teammate Ricky Brabec coming in third.

In the General Classifiction standing, Ricky Brabec takes the lead with the top four now within a 15-minute window.

With more than half of the race distance and time to go, still, anything can happen.

We hear from the top racers, check in with the malle moto standings and have a nice chat with Skyler Howes who abandoned the race shortly into the two-day stage six.

The fourth stage of the 2024 Dakar Rally completed today with the top three front runners establishing control of the event and extending their advantage over the rest of the field by more than 20 minutes to fourth place. 

In today's episode we catch up with race stage winner Nacho Cornejo and his HRC Monster Energy Honda teammates Ricky Brabec and Skyler Howes. We also hear from birthday boy and stage lead-out rider (yesterday's winner) Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Kevin Benavides. Stage 13 show is up and ready to rock. Today we cover stage 13 from the 2023 Dakar Rally and, unbelievably, the race is actually closer, again. After a big day in the dunes, the leaders of the overall classification are separated by a mere 12 seconds. Third place is a minute-and-a-half back from the lead. We've never seen a Dakar Rally so close. And tomorrow's final stage will be a ripper with racers starting in reverse order and absolutely sending it for 130km into the final podium. It's a heated race between KTM teammates Toby Price (leading) and Kevin Benavides. Benavides took the stage win today, his first of the rally, and Toby has been in absolute control the entire two weeks of the race. Third place is American Skyler Howes, who lost a little time today but is still within striking distance.

We also saw a new racer on the stage podium today with Michael Docherty taking second. A great ride!

Today we hear directly from Toby Price, Skyler Howes, Michael Docherty, Adrian VanBeveren, Pablo Quintanilla, Jacob Argubright, and Miriam Pol.

Available time to make up isn't a lot tomorrow, but anything can happen! It's going to be intense and, somewhat scary.

KLIM Dakar Rally Daily from Stage 11 of the 2023 Dakar Rally is LIVE.

Boy, we honestly didn't see this coming. The race at the top of the general classification is off-the-charts close. Less than three minutes separates the top three riders, with first and second place covered by under 30 seconds. That's insane considering what each of these riders have been through. To keep the contenders for the win that close by stage 11 shows how successful the race organizations planning and points system is this year at keeping this a race to the finish. 

In today's show we hear from race stage winner (his third of the rally) Luciano Benavides, Daniel Sanders, Toby Price, Skyler Howes (who is back in the lead of the race),and  Mason Klein (who had a rough day in the race today). 

Then, we get a walking tour of the entire Dakar Bivouac from our unofficial on-the-ground correspondent Ashley House! 

Also, we check in with Original by Motul competitor Kirsten Landman who keeps impressing everyone with great riding and maximum endurance. 

And, last but not least, we get a welcomed update from Paul Neff from the hospital. The world's favorite race updater is being taken care of after a scary crash. We are so grateful to hear from him.

Today was one of those days at Dakar that really shakes things up.  For all but 43 motorcycle riders, the race stage was cut short due to a massive rain/hail storm wiping through the Saudi desert. The images are insane and reports are nasty.  For most of the moto contenders, the day ahead of that storm was fantastic. Unfortunately, American Ricky Brabec has withdrew from the race after a hard crash during the stage. His injuries aren't fully known yet but we do know he was stable with mobility en-route to scans at the hospital. Reports are of neck and shoulder pain at this time. 

Red Bull GasGas rider Daniel Sanders grabbed a commanding stage win by blitzing through a long, tough, stage after a strategic finishing position yesterday put him in a prime place to win. His speed is what did the deed, though, as he led from every checkpoint all day and managed to put some serious time into his rivals in the top-ten general standing for the race.

American Husqvarna Factory pilot Skyler Howes  finished the stage in second today after starting in the usually unfavorable spot of third on the day. Howes was able to carry big speed all day despite being up front and, as you'll hear in today's show, he really enjoyed himself. 

Fellow American Mason Klein led the entire 400+ KM of timed special stage after his win yesterday to finish an amazing third today and  put his stamp of competency and contention on the 2023 Dakar and the Rally GP class. The 21-year-old American lost minimal time to stage winner Sanders and benefitted from the new stage-leading bonus rules from the organization to limit his losses even more. In the end, he only gave up around six minutes the insanely fast Australian. The only way this happens is if Mason Klein rides like an absolute boss leading the world's best riders. And he did just that.

We stayed up late to drink beer and record our Stage Zero show in almost live-like fashion last night. And wow, was that worth it! The experiment paid off with a real-time recap of the racers crossing the line AND some real-time commentary on our Dakar Fantasy Derby results!
