Deep with Minka Kelly & Shallow about Pump Rules

Deep with Minka Kelly & Shallow about Pump Rules

Minka Kelly joins us to talk about her deeply honest book, 'Tell Me Everything: A Memoir,' her tumultuous upbringing, 'Friday Night Lights,' and the incredibly hot Dan Reynolds. OK fine, *I* talk about Minka's rumored relationship with Dan Reynolds, because...have you seen those little shorts he wears onstage?

Before that - how did Vanderpump production NOT know about Tom and Raquel!? And remember that time John got bad lip filler? Because I sure do!

    Kill A Rumor XLVII

    Kill A Rumor XLVII

It’s been a long week of exciting parties, events, games, and rumors for the Bellas.

Nikki & Brie breakdown a wild week in Arizona with live podcast tapings, concerts, flag football games, halftime shows, and having to Kill A Rumor that started to get out of control when doing some red-carpet TV interviews.

The Bellas start off recapping Valentine’s Day with the kids, a great live show with Frankie Muniz, and experience Artem Mode on stage.

Then Nikki took a moment to stop the show and Kill A Rumor once and for all and address some frustration with all of the trolls that have come out of the woodwork to attack her and also the ones she loves, which crosses the line for her, especially after something she said on an Instagram Live was used for clickbait.

Back to the fun stuff! Nikki & Brie dive into their experiences with former NFL quarterback RGIII, Tik Tok star Josh Richards, Rob Riggle; and Brie noticed some hungry eyes at the flag football game when people were checking out her body after her mommy makeover. Then giving the play-by-play from their big night with Kane Brown and Imagine Dragons at the Bud Light Music Fest concert.

Nikki & Brie also tell you everything that the cameras didn’t show during Rihanna’s big halftime show, which blew them away, and other big moments from being in the stadium and experiencing a monumental game in person. But their big weekend hit a snag when their genius idea to get a flight out of Phoenix on Sunday night, but they were met with an overwhelmed airport and flight delays. Finally, they landed early in the morning and The Bellas made it home to big smiles from Birdie, Buddy, and Matteo. Brie also had a teaching moment with Birdie, explaining the circle of life, which caught Bryan off guard.

Now that we’re getting to the finale of Nikki Bella Says I Do, and answer a listener question about the challenge of filming a television series in public, especially in France, and dealing with rude strangers on the streets of beautiful Paris.

To close out an episode, Brie shares a special Inspiration & Affirmation to celebrate Nikki’s wedding, and then Nikki & Brie break down their Valentine’s Day plans and try to understand their love languages.

    I'm Coming Out

    I'm Coming Out

This week Lane and Vy are talking all about coming out! In honor or Pride Month, they decided to talk about coming out and what that exactly means in today's increasingly sexually and gender fluid society. They weigh the pros and cons of coming out, as well as discuss their own personal journeys and what they've discovered since they came out. It's a rather personal episode that is still hilarious nonetheless. You definitely don't want to miss this one!

Lunch | Marshall Duke and Dan Reynolds | From Rambo to Rushdie via Linklater and Lavant:  Our Peanut Butter Cup Runneth Over

Some things are easier to mix together than others.  There is the proverbial problem of mixing oil and water, but then there is also the smooth blending of coffee and cream.  Bringing together students from film studies and psychology in order to study theory of mind might best be described as midway between these extremes—for us the best metaphor is peanut butter and chocolate—not always easy to integrate, but the result is well worth it (as the Reese’s candy folks have shown).
In recent years, there has been a significant increase in collaboration between the social sciences and the humanities.  Venerable humanities journals such as Style now publish reports on digital analyses of modern and classic texts as well as writings discussing the evolutionary significance of fiction.  Publications such as The Scientific Study of Literature and The Journal of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts have appeared.   It should come as no surprise that there is controversy surrounding these new "Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups."  Our CMBC lunch discussion will represent an effort to identify some of the main questions surrounding the mixing of empirical/theoretical social science and the humanities.  We hope that the gathered company will consider the pros and cons of such a blend (which has a history dating back to Freud’s analysis of Leonardo daVinci’s relationship with his mother!) and enjoy a good discussion.  We cannot say what the lunch will comprise, but the dessert will be….well, you might be able to guess.
